We are artists and writers who work at home and are easily available to ask questions, help you navigate Poughkeepsie and the region, and take care of your lodging needs. If our schedules coincide, and you would like to spend time with us, you're likely to be invited to one or more meals. We're seasoned travelers who love meeting people from all over the world, and have made many new friends in our relatively brief time as Airbnb hosts. If you prefer less interaction, we will of course honor that preference.
Quiet, respectful, tidy. No TV or music after 11pm. No smoking, no drugs.
I am a working artist and published author, based in Poughkeepsie, NY. My husband is a pianist and writer. We enjoy hosting visitors to the Hudson Valley and sharing our passion for the region's attractions and amenities. We love this beautiful valley, and Poughkeepsie is a perfect geographic fulcrum for exploring the region's lush walking, biking and hiking paths, parks, wineries and distilleries, art and cultural events and venues, and the marvelous restaurants and antique and artisanal craft shops.
We are one of only four houses on a quiet historical block. Our home is a spacious, clean, and welcoming place- an authentic urban oasis with friendly neighbors and elegant Victorian buildings, including two notable structures built by the Vassar family. We are steps away from several excellent downtown restaurants and bars, and easy walking distance from the commuter train and Amtrak station, the Walkway over the Hudson, and Waryas Park on the Hudson River. All thruways and the more leisurely back roads are minutes from our street.
We have two guest spaces, under separate Airbnb listings. One is a private room on the same floor as our bedroom, kitchen, living rooms, and bathroom. That room is a cozy comfortable den with a generous sized desk where you can work or spread out personal items. The shared bathroom is small, and you're likely to prefer changing clothes in the guest room. So do bring a robe, or feel free to ask for one...we have plenty on hand along with lots of other fresh linens on an as-needed basis.
The other guest space is a separate apartment in our art and music studio spaces on the second floor. This consists of two rooms with private bath as well as a charming private back porch. The private bath features a clawfoot soaking tub.
All Guests are invited to use the amenities of the entire house, including the piano room, the kitchen and the meditation room. Outdoor space is available for quiet time to enjoy the linked backyard garden spaces visible from our porches. We are very sensitive to our guests and will do our best to meet all your specific comfort needs. We enjoy offering our guests beverages and snacks. If our schedules coincide, we are likely to offer sharing a meal with you.
