We may not meet face to face, but I'm typically close by and happy to offer tips and recommendations on the local arts and food scene, especially all things related to indie music, coffee culture, craft cocktails and beer.
I supply bedding, towels, an equipped kitchen, and all basic amenities as well as high speed internet, a blue tooth music player, and Netflix and Amazon Prime video on demand. If you have questions about specific items, feel free ask.
The loft has two fully functional wood stoves. If you'd like to use them, let me know in advance, and I'll stock them with hardwood and give you a rundown on operation for an additional $15.

I've restored this hundred-year-old building by hand over several years and it's been a labor of love. Act accordingly: Respect. No smoking. No kung fu fighting. No parties. No crazy stuff. Please wash dishes and utensils if you use them, and leave the loft more or less in the condition you found it. KEEP NOISE DOWN after dark, especially on entry and departure, since other travelers share the building. Enjoy your stay responsibly and we'll get along great.
My guests usually have trouble-free stays and nothing but good things to say. Obviously, I want to keep it that way. The single problem that can botch a great experience is another guest in the building who is loud and inconsiderate—especially after 10pm. Yelling, arguing, stomping up the stairs: all common sense stuff that shouldn't happen. Don't be shy about letting me know if another guest is being unruly, so I can deal with it quickly. You'll be doing us both a favor.
I'm fine with a few friends or family spending time in your unit, so long as they understand the House Rules and leave at a reasonable hour. No unbooked folks spending the night, please. Keep things chill. Remember, you're accountable for your guests' actions. Take it upon yourself to keep noise down and standards up, and you're golden.
I’m a husband, dad and writer, who loves indie music, the outdoors, and bourbon. The answer to basketball? espresso? or adventure? is Yes. I rehabbed this building over six years with the help of youtube DIY videos, so I guess I like restoration too.
I've lived in downtown Kansas City for over a decade and it's been fun to watch the urban core change and grow as my family grows too. Five things I can't live without are my Kansas Jayhawks, a great crime novel, pickup basketball games, my wife and kids (I'm bending the rules here) and a new challenge.
My traveling style is probably a lot like yours; I tend to hit the ground running, explore the new city, and pretend that I actually live there. Bars, restaurants and venues a little off the beaten path.
As a host, my style is personable and flexible. I'm happy to meet and greet when possible, but I'm also perfectly fine giving you space to relax and explore.
