Our condo is in a small complex that works well for tourists or business travelers. We love the location's close proximity to shopping, beaches, dining and popular tourist sites. The gorgeous sunrises and ephemeral ocean waves offer continual joy.
No smoking or pets are allowed. Strict quiet hours are from 9 pm to 9 am, but courtesy rules apply at all times, so please respect the neighbors with your noise levels and let the sound of the ocean waves be enjoyed at all times. We can be flexible with check in/out times as long as we have enough time for cleaning between bookings. Our condo's fire code allows no more than 4 people, so for safety purposes we need to restrict celebrations. Please let us know if you would like to have a larger event and we will try to help you accommodate your needs.
My husband, Bill, and I have spent our two years since my retirement traveling, with a 3-month quest to trace the inspirations in Europe that motivated Renoir to continue painting against all odds. We have spent six months during that time enjoying our second home on Kauai. My mother first bought a time-share at Kauai Kailani in the early 1970s. It was our vacation home for 40 years until the lease expired. After that, we were on a quest to find a comparable property for our retirement winters. After looking on the other islands, we were delighted to find an open house at Kauai Kailani. Some things are just meant to be! So, our patience was rewarded when we purchased our Hale (house) Ohana (family). We have rented it a few times through a property manager and are thrilled to now have it listed on Airbnb.
On the island, we have enjoyed all kinds of entertainment, from South Pacific on stage to Buckwheat Zydeco for Mardi Gras, a Jim Messina concert and many art walk nights in Hanapepe and Kapaa.
Kauai has something for every traveler: high end hotels with room service to youth hostels. Our Hale Ohana is somewhere in between. The full kitchen allows you to eat in (it's hard finding a restaurant with a comparable view) or taste the treats around the island. We usually do both. I've learned that a little planning can make dreams come true.
My motto is: You are never too old to chase your dreams. I hope the aloha spirit will bring you back to the islands many times!
