My apartment is a light and sun-filled sanctuary in the lower north shore suburb of Mosman. It has been re-painted in fresh, light colours; re-carpeted in a soft beige; and there are bright new blinds, all just finished (April, 2015). Set in a modern block named Avien Court, my place is simple, modern and stylish. It's close to the coffee shops of Military and Avenue Roads, to Taronga Zoo, and to Sydney's most beautiful beach: Balmoral. It's across the road from St. Clement's Church, and so there's a Down Under version of Oranges and Lemons going on here. The bells of St Clement's chime in Sunday mornings and services about to start - a very serene sound! It's close to city buses and to Mosman Wharf, with city ferries departing regularly.
Guests have noted traffic noise in the mornings, as it is close to Mosman Prep School, and it does get a bit noisy. It's also part of the patchwork of suburban streets between Mosman and the Bridge which Sydney-
siders call " The Back Way to the City", (an alternative, less busy way to the city than Military Road) and so, yes, it gets traffic. I recommend you keep the windows shut in the main bedroom, which fronts Canrobert street. It's quiet at nights, and it's really from 7.30 - 9am that it's noisy, on weekday mornings.
The apartment itself is in a pale brick, well-maintained building of some 15 apartments, three stories high. It contains a large lounge dining room, comfortably furnished with low, modular furniture and a new dining table and chairs. There is a large, flat screen television and wi fi access. There are two bedrooms, the main containing a queen size bed, the other a fold out sofa bed, which is very comfortable. So, the apartment is really for two couples, or a couple with a maximum of two children. Both bedrooms have built in storage as well as ample chests of drawers for storage.
Kitchen and bathroom are modern, the kitchen particularly spacious. The kitchen has European appliances - oven and dishwasher. The bathroom has a combined washing machine and dryer.
Why would you stay here? Because Mosman is very convenient if you are in Sydney. And the apartment itself is a peaceful haven, where you can rest from your sight seeing undisturbed. (Though with some traffic noise in the mornings!)
