This apartment is ideal for a group of 5 or 6 who want to explore the southern part of the island—the place is large enough for 6 without everyone getting in each others’ way. The proximity of the road leading to Fuencaliente is convenient and we heard little traffic noise. The sitting room window gives a fantastic view of the sea and the sunsets; the roof terrace has a fantastic view of the night sky; the patio beside the kitchen is well equipped with garden furniture and a barbeque. The wifi was reliable, and by far the best we experienced in La Palma. The whole place was very clean.
Federico is friendly and helpful. He met us at the airport to give us the key and a map of the island and explained where to find the local supermarkets; he responded quickly by text when we had questions about the apartment.
We stayed in December, during a period when the weather was unusually chilly and wet: the lack of any heating in the apartment meant that we all bundled up a lot. I don’t imagine, though, that this would be an issue at most times of year! However, the hot water heater for the bathroom is quite small, so if all 5 of us took showers in quick succession, the last two showers were cold. (We got around this by staggering showering times.) The kitchen is large and easy for several people to cook in, but when we stayed, there was no hot water available for washing dishes, so we boiled water on the stove (there was no kettle). Also, compared to other airbnb places we’ve stayed in, the apartment was quite bare: no books, no leaflets or fliers about the island, no basic supplies in the kitchen (no oil, salt, pepper, aluminum foil, oven gloves…). But these are small gripes, and the spaciousness of the flat, the marvellous views of sea and sky, and the location more than made up for them.
In sum: we had a fabulous week here and Federico was a great host.
