This waterfront cabin, has 2 queen sized beds. 1 'top bunk' in the loft, and the other 'floating'. Its perfect for 1 or 2 couples, a small family, or a group of friends.

With a private, floating Rancho located a few meters from our magical coral reef, this is the perfect place to launch your snorkel expedition.

Our unique transparent screen walls allow the breeze in, but keep the bugs out. Fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle and the ocean lapping gently beneath you.

Prostor

Once upon a time this cabana floated whimsically on 55 gallon drums. It bobbed along for balanced couples only! These days we're offering our guests a little more support and stability by perching this cabana on stilts! Don't worry, you will still have a floating sensation, when relaxing in our hanging bed.

The cabana is one of a special few. CocoVivo Tropical Island Paradise sits on the Southern tip of Isla San Cristobal in the Bocas Del Toro Archipelago. The island has no roads or electricity but we support ourselves with solar panels, a backup generator and a rainwater collection system.

The room is totally screened in for comfort, but French doors open onto a private rancho. When night falls, strong bioluminescent waters makes this cabin seem like its out of a fairy tale.

Bookings for larger groups (up to 20 people) are possible via:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/326033, via a whole property rental!

Dostupno gostima

Guests will have the privacy of their own cabin, but they will also be welcome to join us for breakfast, dinner, and hammock hang outs on our common dock.

Meal Services are provided upon request, we cater to dietary restrictions and base our menu on local ingredients. Breakfast and Dinner go for 28$ per day per person. ( Fresh Locally-grown Fruit Smoothie Included!)

Fresh water is imported for your drinking, and bathing water is collected from the rain.

Guests will have access to kayaks and SUP boards and are welcome to explore the 55 acres of jungle in the back yard. Guided tours are by donation to help with trail maintenance.

Solar panels allow you to keep up a good charge on your cameras and cellphones. They support our WiFi, so you can post all your pictures #Cocovivopanama

Guests have a number of tours to choose from, prices are dependent on the number of participants. Locally led Horse-back Riding, Chocolate tours, beach days, and town visits to mention a few. If there is somewhere you would like to explore that is not in our list of tours, the boat is available to charter with our captain Leo (He grew up here!)

!!! IMPORTANT: THIS IS A RUSTIC PLACE, NOT A RESORT !!!

It's for the adventurous, who want reasonable comfort in a remote setting, and want to experience realities of rural life in the tropics. In addition to the abundant pleasures of the lush forests and reefs, you should expect to…..

GO OFF GRID: You will run out of running water if you take long showers or if the rains don't come. The solar panels are backed by a generator, but you'll need to remember to turn off lights and fans when not in use — especially when the clouds hang out for a few days.

WEAR BUG PROTECTION: We are bug conscious in the design of our accommodations. You will see dozens of geckos feeding on the insects on the outside of the screens that keep you bug free in the house. That being said, a layer of coconut oil, or bug spray can keep you comfortable during "Chitra Hour" when the no-see-ums come out at dawn and dusk. These critters are generally predictable, so its easy to be prepared.

We choose Coco-Vivo for our Honeymoon trip. It was a wonderful experience! It is not the easiest location to get to, but the bumpy flight and boat ride are well worth it!! The new bungalow is located at the end of a path that only one other bungalow is on. It was the perfect little room to enjoy spending time together. The "no-see-em's" are no joke. Slather on the coconut oil when you first arrive in Bocas and keep a bottle handy your entire trip. You don't need any harsh chemicals or deet, the coconut oil works just fine. You don't need to over pack for your trip, swim suits, shorts and a few shirts is all that is needed. We saw the family of dolphins that lives in the bay just about every day as well as 4 or 5 sloths on a short jungle hike that we took. There are a few other creepy jungle crawlies of the 8 legged family to keep an eye out for inside and outside of the bungalow. The bio-luminescent swim is a must on your trip, we had to wait until our last night for the perfect window between evening and the moon rising, but it was well worth the wait! Red Frog beach is worth the boat ride, however do a bit of planning and make a whole day of it if you decide to take a water taxi to Red Frog or to Bocas, it is quite an expensive ride and you don't want to plan on doing it more than once. We spent $110 between water taxi's and the $5/person to walk through the jungle to get to Red Frog beach. Coco-Vivo was a very magical place and we will be looking to return someday. Lazare and Carmen were very generous hosts and we had the pleasure of making a few friends along the way as well!

My husband and I planned a two week vacation in Costa Rica and decided last minute to cross the boarder into Panama and check this place out. We are SO glad we did--it was by far the highlight of the trip. Carmen and Lazare are fabulous hosts-fun to talk to and amazing cooks!! The atmosphere at the main dock is so chill --that is where we spent most of our time talking with other guests, eating, kayaking, etc. We also recommend going for pizza at one of the neighboring islands-some of the best pizza I've had and, again, a very cool atmosphere. We saw parrots and sloths on the island, and pods of dolphins on a couple of boat rides (the dolphins are here all year long). I was surprised at how safe I felt in the transparent cabin--it was kept neat and clean, and did a good job keeping bugs out (we just had to get rid of the occasional crab that would walk through the front door.) Make SURE you protect yourself from bugs and sun--It may be a good idea to wear light clothing that covers lots of skin when you aren't swimming. I just about got eaten alive despite wearing coconut oil which is supposed to help. And of course, make sure you go for a swim at night in the bioluminescent water--such a magical experience!! This place was amazing and we hope to be back next year!

We truly felt in touch with nature here and Lazare and Carmen were such good hosts. We could sneak off to our own room when we wanted privacy and went to the main dock when we wanted to socialize. We went on the hike around the island and an excursion to Red Frog beach both of which I recommend. It was so remote, yet had wifi which was the best of both worlds. I would bring a bug spray for sand fleas because they seemed extra active at dusk and dawn, but make sure to protect the coral (which is amazing btw). I would highly recommend a stay with Carmen and Lazare!

What a great and special place to stay. We had a great 4 night stay. Carmen and Lazare are fabulous hosts and cook wonderful and fresh meals. It is a secluded place but with enough to do to keep you busy. Highly recommend a hike through the jungle and kayak over to Los Amigos for fried chicken. Great snorkeling right off the dock too. Bring any snacks or supplies with you and enjoy a few days away!

Carmen and Lazare are the ultimate hosts! They were very helpful with instructions, information, and assistance for getting to the property. Once we arrived we were immediately welcomed and made to feel at home. We stayed in the floating cabin. It's rustic but it covers your basic needs: shelter from rain and bugs. Think of camping but with a nice comfortable bed and unforgettable views. We used the kayaks to paddle around and we ate fried chicken across the channel. Captain (the dog) was with us every stroke of the way. Carmen and Lazare cook very tasty, very healthy, and very fresh food for you (it's well worth the extra $). One day a local fisherman paddled up to the dock, selling his catch of the day. We ate it just a few short hours later. The dock is amazing and is where we spent the majority of our time. We swam and snorkleled right off of it. When we were tired we swung on the swings and hammocks with ice cold beers. Highly recommended! We will definitely be back.

What an amazing adventure!! We rented a car in Costa Rica and left our rental car at the Sixaola border, took a taxi to Almirante and then a water taxi to the island. All of this travel is totally worth the once in a lifetime experience that awaits you on this beautiful, remote island. It may seem daunting but don't worry- the travel is pretty straight forward and Carmen and Lazare are wonderful at communication during the whole process. Carmen and Lazare were the perfect hosts, always making sure you have what you need and cooking the most DELICIOUS, fresh meals you've ever eaten. I read this in other reviews and I can honestly say it is 100% true. We stayed here for 3 nights and our favorite meals during our 10 day trip was hands down made by Lazare and Carmen. The community dock is set up to relax with hammocks, hanging swings and picnic tables. We spent our mornings here drinking coffee and eating fresh fruit and gourmet breakfasts prepared by Carmen and Lazare. It was super fun to socialize with the other guests from all over the world. You are still able to slip away from other guests in your private room or when you are on your own little adventures. This was important for us because we were on our honeymoon. December is rainy season but that did not deter us from exploring! If you have the chance to take the 2 hour hike/tour around the property, I highly recommend it! We saw TONS of sloths, learned about the native fruit that grows there and had amazing views. Lazare is very knowledgable about the animal, insect and plant species. There is even a purple flower bush on the property that is swarming with tons of different species of hummingbirds!! Other AMAZING adventures include: -snorkeling in the coral reef that surrounds the dock, filled with colorful coral, 100's of huge starfish, stingrays and fish. Watch out for the few jellyfish! -dolphin watching.. we spotted a few one night at dinner time! -swimming in the bioluminescent water at night -jumping off the diving board... Do it! -hiking around the property on the lookout for all the birds, animals and insects - taking a kayak trip! Lazare and Carmen told us about a magnificent, massive tree that we could try to find in the jungle... they said no other guest had found it yet. We were up for the challenge! They drew us a map and we kayaked to the entrance point and had the hike of a lifetime!! They let us take their pup, Capitan, and he made us feel very safe. Sure enough, we found the tree! There are no words to describe this tree.... you will just have to see for yourself! Bring bug spray and long sleeves to protect yourselves from the Chitras, they leave itchy bites! I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It is perfect for both relaxation and adventure!!! We already...

Our favorite part of our panama trip. Highly recommend visiting Cocovivo. Our home: We ended up staying at the "Hidden Treasure on the Lagoon" and loved it. This house doesn't rock with your weight, or natural forces like wind, or waves. It was cozy, spacious, cutely decorated, feels isolated enough when you need your space but not remote that I would be scared reaching it at night. I was originally worried about bugs entering because it was right under the trees but this was not a problem at all. The common deck: This is where we spent all our time here eating, snorkeling, hammock-ing when we were not out kayaking around the bay. We loved how social this space was. It has some of the best views of the bay and sits right above a big coral reef. The food and host: Carmen and Lazare were delightful hosts, so friendly and caring. We were prepared delicious, nutritious vegan food which I am sure was not an easy challenge.

We are on site to keep jungle life comfortable.

Two hosts will be living on site, to answer all your questions about off the grid living, and to cook your meals. We employ the local people to help us with maintenance, building and cleaning. We provide a 'Ride Share' service to our remote location for 60$ included in the cleaning fee. To participate in this reduced price transport we ask that guests co-operate with the arrivals and departures of others, this could mean taking a short water taxi to the decided meeting point or being flexible with pick up times. If you would like to be picked up at a specific time we can refer you to a water taxi, or pick you up personally for an extra fee, from your hotel or the airport.
