19 Elk is a classic Crested Butte home it was once the post office in the mining town of Irwin. Subject to boom and bust Irwin at its peak is said to have had ten thousand people in the 1880's and then turned into a ghost town when the mines closed. I believe our house was pulled by mule team on logs the seven miles to town sometime in the 1920's. It has been remodeled many times and is a comfortable basecamp for CB adventure.
We have a five bedroom three bath house in the heart of this vibrant community. Of the three bedrooms on the second floor two are for air bnb guests, sometimes my son stays in the other. There is one shared bath on second floor pictures are included in the listing. It is a social house, I have lived in town for almost forty years, we often invite guests to join in for a social event or a cup of coffee, we do lead busy, active lives so only a clean room is guaranteed.
You can come and go as you please but try to keep it quiet after ten at night (we will also). Parking can be tricky especially in winter the signs need to be read carefully just ask.
