This is a review for the unit on Maiden Lane! Tony very kindly met me in person at 4pm to check in, and luckily I was able to leave our bags with my partner until then.
We had a lovely stay in Tony's flat, with a few hiccups. The space and location is stellar, the wifi is great, extra towels galore, and it turned out to be convenient to have a DVD player in the bedroom—hello, Idris Elba! The flat gets lots of daylight, and is mere steps away from every attraction you could imagine. Very easily Tube accessible. The building is modern and secure, and even includes a lift, which is a definite perk when you're tired of hauling bags.
There is, however, a slight caveat of being above Porterhouse Pub. We found it difficult to sleep through the sound of Friday and Saturday, despite the double-paned glass in the bedroom. It wasn't so bad when Tony met me with the keys, but by midnight we were extra tired from the flight and really wanted to sleep. I would probably not recommend the flat for a family with young children or if you are sensitive to noise.
Other hiccups included some loud banging from the heating system, the fire alarm being triggered by steam from the shower, and the clothing dryer and microwave not working (Tony warned me about the microwave possibility). We also found some moldy things in the dishwasher, although I'm tempted to blame a prior guest for that rather than Tony. Admittedly, we did not reach out to Tony or AirBnB during our stay because the issues did not seem immediately resolvable, but the details are perhaps pertinent for anyone looking to book the flat in future.
All in all, we had a fantastic first trip together to London and are very grateful for Tony for his hospitality, just go in knowing what you're in for!
