We drove up from West Palm to celebrate our anniversary. It was a short drive but far enough to feel like we went somewhere. Originally we had reservations at the Ritz Carlton, but we wanted to save money, so we looked on Airbnb for a place.
I looked at tons of listings. Bruce's place was what we decided on. I liked what I saw in the photos and what I read in the description.
I loved that when we walked into the loft, the AC was on and the place was nice & cool. We're experiencing a record hot summer so that was a very nice start to our long weekend.
Our hosts left us a thoughtful gift which we enjoyed later that day.
The place is small but perfect for us. It reminded us of being in a boat down below. Since it's a loft, maybe an attic turned loft?, the doorways and some ceilings are very low. My husband who is 6'1 bumped his head several times. Even the shortest person would have to duck a bit in the bed area. It's a very cozy room, with a huge bed, and the ceiling angled down and hanging low. Oh, in the bedroom, try out the mood lighting under the bed. That was pretty cool.
The shower was nice and there's plenty of bath towels available. The kitchen had all the basic stuff we could want.
The loft is located very close to downtown, about .3 miles. We walked to it every day we were there, despite the heat. We made sure once we got downtown, to slip into one of the many shops or eateries.
Some of the places we enjoyed are Blue Door Coffee where we had a delicious iced vanilla latte and a treat and Kilwins where we had ice cream cones and milkshakes. A shop I'd recommend is Earthtones, right in downtown. It's a super ecclectic store and it's very cool. Literally and figuratively. We also ate at the Taco Shack. The food was so fresh and good. This wasn't in Downtown proper but it is within walking distance to the loft.
There's a railroad track very close to the loft. You need to cross it to get to downtown. We heard the train from the loft but it didn't really bother us. Just know it sounds a horn at night and in the middle of the night like around 2am. Our bed shook a little. Again it was nothing that bothered us.
There was some construction/renovation on the first floor of the house, not in the loft - the area we rented - though. If you're concerned about whether this may be going on during your stay, I'd recommend asking the host to get an idea.
I'm glad I picked this loft. My husband liked it too. It was just right for the two of us.
