Based on our guests' feedback we will be providing more soundproofing in the front rooms in the near future. And we think that individual earplug packets will be brilliant. As we like to say here, the good news is we are in Breezewood and at a major crossroads for travelers, an excellent location even 228 years ago! We've noticed that the increase in turnpike rates has put more cars and trucks on our parallel main roads, including the historic Lincoln Highway corridor.
In the olden days, we like to think that this main route was quieter and more pristine, but then the Inn in it's heyday in the 1800's would have had open windows and lots of other environmental concerns from the animals, clanking of the wagon bells and stage coach horns - so bring on the electric trucks and cars in the this century! We hope our guests understand that an historic structure such as The 1788 Inn was placed originally on the main immigration routes to meet the travel needs of our early American frontiersmen and women and the later stagecoaches.
We like to think that our other modern conveniences, 4 course gourmet breakfasts, and beautiful sunsets over the Appalachian mountains will compensate somewhat! We have lots of history here for the historic traveler and enjoy sharing our piece of it in today's modern world! 1788 Inn Innkeeper
