I live here with my husband and our dog and 2 cats. We have three grown up children. (Two boys and a daughter). Our interests include music and property - We have a professional recording studio and play/sing with a band - two guitarists a cellist and a cahon player - performing folk rock, blues/country. Having lived in Forest Hill for almost 30 years we think we are in one of the best areas of London...
SIGHTSEEING and TRAVEL:
The nearest airport to us is Gatwick. It takes about 1 hour to get to our nearest station which is Honor Oak Park from Gatwick. Honor Oak Park is on the underground network called 'London Overground'. This connects with the Jubilee Line at Canada Water which stops at Westminster (Houses of Parliament/Big Ben) and Green Park (Buckingham Palace).
It takes about 30 to 35 minutes to get from here to Bond Street which is right in the middle of Oxford Street so slightly less for Green Park. The train service here is very good with trains every few minutes. There is a 10 minute walk from the house to the station or a short bus ride.
Private space with own bathroom at the top of the house. Facilities to prepare simple meals.
We ensure our guests are comfortable and always ask if they have everything they need. It's usual to have a chat and with longer term stays we have often shared a meal and a glass of wine.
Quiet area with lovely walks in nearby woods and parks. Amazing views over London. Near to shops and a short distance to East Dulwich - where there are an abundance of good restaurants and individual retail outlets.
There are frequent trains - every few minutes from Honor Oak Park Station Some go directly to London Bridge (10 mins journey time) This one connects with the Northern Line (Camden Town - good place to visit) and some connect with the Jubilee Line which takes you towards central London Oxford Street - easy to get to Covent Garden, Leicester Square etc. Total Journey time about 30 - 35 mins.
Plenty of buses into town from nearby bus stops.
We are on the border of Zone 3 - the next stop is 'Brockley' (Zone 2)

My husband and myself have many interests including refurbishing houses and have done up several properties including practically rebuilding the home we now live in. The home and garden which is massive keep us very occupied.
Our other pass time is playing music, my husband has built a very impressive recording studio in our basement and we play rock/folk/country music with our other band members. We have three grown up children - A girl and two boys.
We love travelling and have recently spent several weeks in India. Staying in interesting places, being close to people and finding out about different cultures is what we like doing rather than staying in uninteresting hotels.
