PERFECT location, GORGEOUS apartment, and WONDERFUL hostesses!
Location/Neighborhood: The apartment is on the border between the old historic pedestrian town and the "new" town, which is really old and picturesque as well, one step from the Tajo or Puente Nuevo, the focal point of Ronda with views like from a fairytale! There could be no better location to stay in Ronda!
On a pedestrian street full of life, tapas bars, restaurants with tables outside, tapas for .80 cents nearby! The Italian restaurant downstairs gives you free drinks with your meal (wine, etc.) if you mention your apartment! A convenience store nearby sells eggs, grapes, wine, chocolate, fresh bread, diapers, open early and late, lovely pastry shops nearby too. Great churros and chocolate breakfast places as well. All of the historic sites are within close and easy walking distance.
If you arrive by car, this is a very convenient spot. We found FREE parking just a couple of blocks away. A paying garage is nearby under Plaza de Socorro, but we didn't need it. We were able to pull right up to the entrance of the street in our car, unload our luggage, and walk a couple of doors down to the entrance to the apartment.
Ronda is a great home base to explore white towns such as Grazalema, Zahara, and Setenil. Even Arcos is only an hour away, and in retrospect we would have slept longer in Ronda at Cristina's apartment rather than move around.
The Apartment: GORGEOUS! SUPER CLEAN! Marble floors, elegant furnishings, shutter doors looking onto the street, two large en suite bathrooms with modern, clean, and large bathtubs. The apartment is much more beautiful in person, like staying at a 5 star hotel, all of the right ambient lighting. Everything you need is provided, even a good hair dryer, shampoo, makeup wipes, and breakfast foods for the first day. The bedding is super clean and crisp, even the baby bed thoughtfully made up with nice linens. The kitchen very well equipped with openers, utensils, wine glasses, pots. The apartment was well stocked with maps/tourist information on Ronda and the white towns. We loved being in the middle of everything, and yet being able to close the shutters, roll down the black-out door, and have absolute quiet for a great night's sleep.
The Hostesses: Communications with Cristina were friendly and informative, and Esther her cousin met us at the apartment, helping us lug our luggage up to the apartment (elevator), helping us with our children, and driving with us to find parking, then walking back with us pointing out sites, bars, shops and filling us in on what to see in Ronda. True spirit of airbnb! Esther is a true Rodena, and we were very happy she was our introduction to the town!
A long review, but some places simply deserve it. If we were blessed enough to visit Ronda 10 more times, we would stay at Cristina's apartment 10 more times. It is that perfect!
