Romantic get-away for couples. This well-equipped, one-bedroom cottage is set in gorgeous, landscaped gardens with huge (12x5m) swimming pool (shared with owners). Totally private, it lies in a peaceful, rural location on the edge of a tiny village.
The Little House lies at the bottom of our garden. We built it for visiting family and friends but when they're not visiting we are delighted to welcome guests.
Over the years we've stayed in many rental places and wanted to make the Little House somewhere we wanted to stay: somewhere cosy and comfortable where everything has been thought of. We hope we've achieved this!
Nestling at the bottom of half an acre of landscaped gardens and built in a rustic style, it has its own private garden and terrace, complete with barbeque and teak/cane garden furniture.
Inside there is a large bedroom with a king-size bed, open-plan living room, fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom. The swimming pool is shared only with us (an English couple) and there is covered parking in a secure walled courtyard at front of our property.
The Little House is situated on the edge of the village and surrounded by ancient woodland. Located close to the new Trieste-Pula main road, the it s ideally placed for sightseeing across the whole of Istria. Porec, with its many restaurants and large supermarkets is only 10 minutes drive away. There are also other restaurants and supermarkets closer by. The nearest being in either Baderna – 3 km away, or Zbandaj – 4 km away.
There’s a lot to see and do in Istria : picturesque seaside towns, unspoilt medieval hill-top villages, lovely scenery and a beach only a 10-minute drive away. But many of our guests are seduced by the total peace and quiet of the garden: exploring gets pushed out to tomorrow, as snoozing by the pool seems a much better option for today.
The Little House has an official tourist classification for legal renting in Croatia.
It is cleaned once a week. Bed linen, bath, T-towels and pool towels are provided and changed weekly.
General supplies like washing-up liquid, clingfilm and kitchen towel are provided, along with a few essentials to get you started – wine, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits etc.
To help you get the most from your holiday, I’ve put together a comprehensive information pack. There’s also a selection of maps and guide books.
We love cooking and I know how frustrating it can be in a rental property to find you have ‘two odd saucepans and a blunt knife’! I’ve tried to provide everything we would want and hopefully our wishes/needs will match yours. On the appliances side, there’s a 4-ring gas hob, and oven (electric), dishwasher, fridge with small freezer compartment, toaster and kettle.
The cosy living room is equipped with a TV, DVD player and portable CD/tape/radio. There’s also a library of books, CDs and DVDs.
Outside, the Little House has its own private garden and terrace. Sit, soak up the peace and quiet, and maybe see a deer as it ventures out from the woods. The garden’s totally secluded – there isn’t another house in sight, just an ancient vineyard with woodlands beyond. Alternatively sit on your front terrace and enjoy the view of the main garden and the pool.
Enjoy the luxury of a large pool – all to yourself! The pool’s 12 x 5m and you only share it with us (the owners) and we make sure you get priority. By the pool you also have your own shaded terrace area with lounger chairs.
There is secure covered parking in our walled front courtyard.
For more info on the garden and Istria see my Live Istria website ((URL HIDDEN)
You have full use of the pool with your own pool terrace and loungers.
Ours is on the other side of the pool.
Behind the Little House you have a small private garden overlooking ancient vineyards and woodland - there isn't a neighbour or street light in sight. You are also welcome to explore the rest of the garden.
There is a covered parking space for you under the wisteria-covered pergola at the front of the property. Parking is within a secure, walled courtyard.

After you have booked our place we will send you a rental contract by email which you will need to sign to confirm the booking. This is with us, the owners, not with Airbnb.
A detailed information pack is available for you with information on the house and area (restaurants, things to do etc.). There is a also a good selection of guidebooks. We're also usually around and are happy to help in anyway we can with recommendations and advice.
We have two cats - Tally and Baggy, both are very friendly. Tally (our tabby) is our ambassador and she will adopt you (but is happy to be shooed away if you don't want her company). Baggy, being fat and lazy, will ignore you - it's nothing personal she's just more interested in her food bowl.
There is a hairdryer (so you don't need to take up luggage space with one!)
Our rules are simple:
1 - Please treat our place as if it was your own home. We have put a lot of effort into making it as lovely as possible, so please look after it properly.
2 - €100 refundable security deposit. Payable on arrival and refunded after satisfactory departure inspection.
4 - Sorry, but pets are not allowed (they frighten our cats!)
5 - Smoking is not allowed inside the house
6 - Enjoy yourself! Istria is a beautiful part of Croatia with heaps to do, so this shouldn't be difficult.

Phil and I are two Brits who settled in Istria in early 2005. Having left the UK in the early 80s to take up jobs in The Netherlands and then Belgium, we ended up running our own small marketing communications agency in Antwerp. After many years beavering frenetically in the corporate jungle, we came to Istria for a more relaxed, outdoor lifestyle: to live somewhere we could have outdoor sofas, lunch on the terrace and an afternoon swim.
We fell in love with Istria and decided it was the perfect holiday location. First we built a little house at the bottom of our garden for family and friends (1 bedroom). Then, after a year’s hunting, we bought Brnobici, a lovely 3-bed place as a holiday let. Finally a few years ago we bought and fully-restored Kovaci our 5-bed place.
Over the years we’ve stayed in a lot of self-catering places and we wanted to make them somewhere we would want to stay. Somewhere cosy and comfortable, where everything has been thought of. The sort of place we’d want to come back to time and again.
We live in a small Istrian village, not far from the sea with our 2 cats (Baggy & Tally). As well as running my small rental business, I also write/run Live Istria - the website for everyone interested in Istria or living in the sun - and when I have time, I love to garden.
