I love my quirky house. Mainly for the peace and the beautiful view. A perfect haven for a holiday retreat or a night before taking the ferry. This is my gorgeous sea view bedroom with patio doors that open onto the garden. I rent it when I'm away.
I only accept bookings with airbnb validated ID so please validate your ID before you send your request.
The house is upside down and split level so your room is on the ground floor and opens onto the patio and garden. It is a good size and light and sunny but really it's all about the view. I bought a specially high bed so it's possible to lie in bed and still see over the fence to the white cliffs and sea beyond. At night you can see the ferry all lit up in the harbour like fairy lights. It's magical. The room gets the morning sun, even with thick curtains, so bring an eye mask if you are a light sleeper. This is my bedroom and I'm renting it while I'm away so there is my stuff in the wardrobes and chest of drawers, but I clear a rail and a drawer so you can unpack
There is good Wi-fi connection throughout the house.
There is another bedroom at the front of the house that I rent separately so you may be sharing the house with other guests. I'll let you know if you are and I only rent through airbnb so they will be subject to the same checks as you.
There is only a track behind the house so no road noise. It's so quiet it's almost impossible not to relax while you are here. Guests always leave feeling refreshed and recharged.
A basic breakfast is provided but it is 'help yourself'. I will leave cereal and spreads out and milk in the fridge. I also have a bread-maker and leave the ingredients out. It has a timer so you can make fresh bread for your breakfast in the morning if you like (most guests do!).
There is a bathroom opposite your bedroom that has a bath (but no shower) that is mainly for your use. There is another bathroom upstairs that has a shower (but no bath) that is mainly for use by guests in the other room. But if you want a shower you can use the upstairs bathroom and if the other guests want to use the bathroom while you are in there I hope you will let them use yours. There are plenty of bathrooms - I'm sure you'll work it out between you!
You also have free use of the kitchen, living and dining area and gardens. There is also a small room to access the garden and that has a piano that you are welcome to play (although it does need tuning).
I love to cook and designed my kitchen with catering for friends in mind so this may well be the best equipped airbnb kitchen ever! It is small, but perfectly formed (and very orange) and you can use anything you want. I have two ovens, an induction hob, espresso machine, bread maker (with a timer so you can have hot fresh bread for breakfast), Kenwood grill (great for cooking the fresh fish from the dock - 10 mins - done), Soda-stream, waffle maker, popcorn maker, slow cooker, smoothie maker, dishwasher and loads of fridge space.
The back garden, with the sea view, gets the morning and early afternoon sun and there is a table on the patio where you can eat breakfast and lunch if the weather is good. Also a sun lounger positioned to get the last afternoon rays on the garden. There is a BBQ in the shed. Once the sun moves round there is a bench at the front of the house where you can sit and enjoy the view of the other garden with a cup of tea.
There is a washing machine under the stairs which you are welcome to use.
If you are cycling I have a secure garage at the end of the block for bike storage. I really am RIGHT on the London to Paris cycle path (Avenue Verte) so you won't have to waste a single pedal push to stay here. I also have a track pump so you can pump up your tyres for an easier next day ride.
It's a little way into town so if you are just staying one night I can provide you with cereal and flour to make bread for breakfast (free of charge) so you don't have to shop. Tea and coffee are free to help yourself to - unless you are staying a while, then please top up the jar.

Obviously I'll be away or you couldn't have my room. However, I'm happy to keep in contact as much as you like/need. I love the area so enjoy helping out with info. There are maps of the local area and I've written a house manual which details the best walks, places to eat and attractions.
I cycled the Newhaven to Paris section of the Avenue Verte (and back) with my sister so if you are cycling I'd love to swap stories and hope to have you to stay in both directions :-)
I leave the keys outside locked in a key safe and will give you the combination so you can let yourself in (and can never lock yourself out).
There is a house manual which tells you where everything is and how it all works.
I have a cleaner so the whole house will be cleaned before you arrive. And if you are staying longer than a week she will come in to change your bed linen and towels and clean your room and the house again.
The house is right at the top of the town and about a 15 minute walk down to the main shops and places to eat (although there is a small corner shop for some items). You might want to note this if you don't have a car. Downhill all the way though and you can always catch a bus back up.
If you are arriving late I recommend you shop on your way so you don't have to go out again.
I don't have a TV (I just look at the view). But there is good wi-fi connection and I have DVDs and a mini-player you can use.
Mi casa es tu casa. I want you to feel at home and enjoy your stay. My main request is that you take your shoes off at the door. I have nice new carpets. Please just keep the kitchen clean and leave the house clean and tidy as you found it and lock up when you go.
It's a very quiet area and I have nice neighbours. No parties or loud music please. That's what Brighton is for :-)
No smoking inside.
Guests are fine as long as you know them well and please let your house mates know.
Dogs are welcome (I love dogs) but I have pale carpets, all the best walks are muddy and carpet cleaning will be charged, so you will have to work that one out! (there is a hose outside - and the entrance porch has a wood floor at least).
