The neighborhood and location was convenient. It was only a 10 minute walk to the metro and was a quiet and calm neighborhood. The apartment was not clean as there was dirt in many locations and gunk in many areas of the bathroom. Additionally, while I don't expect every Air BNB to operate like a professional bead and breakfast, simple things like water glasses seem like they should be provided. On this case, they were not. There were two futon beds but they were very thin and the pillows provided were basically just empty sheets. The non-sleeping furniture consisted of a desk, a table and some chairs. Many Air BNBs provide a nice little welcome package (a friend of mine stayed in Boston and his host had a 6-pack of Sam Adams waiting for him). Others provide information about the neighborhood, such as transportation and sights to see. While these are not required they make the overall experience much nicer. Unfortunately, this host did not provide any such perks. There were four rolls of toilet paper on the table. Beyond that, no effort was taken to provide a welcoming environment. There was wifi but the password that was written down was incorrect. The host did respond immediately to any text messages. In summary, the price was low and the location was convenient, but there is much room for improvement.
Gloria was very nice and responsive, and the apartment is bright, spacious and in a great location. However, the apartment was not very clean (I guess that's the price you pay when you choose a place that doesn't ask for a cleaning fee), and was missing some pretty basic things: trash cans, more than one half-decent pillow, bath towels (just had 4 flimsy little hand/face towels),and living room furniture (the living room has just two desks and two office chairs in it). With the exception of the living room furniture the other things are relatively easy fixes. If these things are taken care of, it will be a nice place to stay.
