The original part of the house had been an old olive press which still exists in part in the living room and has been incorporated into the interior of the living area. In the old days locals used to make wine by pressing a large wooden plate with a massive wooden screw - these features are now part of the house including the stone press basin that has been converted to a loft area lined with cushions and a large sunny window suited for reading, listening to music or just an afternoon nap.
From the terrace outside the living room you have a view over a valley. With a private swimming pool one terrace below.

When 13th-century Portuguese Queen Isabel passed through Obidos and marvelled at its beauty, her husband King Denis I simply gave it to her. For centuries after, the kings of Portugal followed suit, presenting the picturesque little town to their queens as a wedding gift. With its white buildings shining as brightly now as then, the walled city of Obidos is very popular with tourists, its hillside location offering amazing views of the Estremadura area. The medieval castle is the main attraction.
