Circa 1834 row house ground floor suite with full bathroom, private street entrance and courtyard access. Cypress beams, bricks, artwork, books and modern amenities surround you in this unique contemporary restoration. 2 blocks from convention hall.
The Courtyard Suite has been recently restored and renovated with all new contemporary fixtures and appliances. Our restoration and renovation included reworking the mechanical and energy systems. The new bathroom and kitchen both have new energy and water saving appliances. Principal in our effort was to rethink the HVAC system. We have a Mitsubishi ductless mini split ac/heater that replaces an outdated central system without compromising seasonal comfort. It operates on a fraction of the energy. Remote controlled ceiling fans assist in the comfort of the spaces. The kitchen is furnished with everything you'll need for your stay. The bedroom comes with a new mattress, linens, pillows and towels. The restoration included exposing the beautiful cypress beams and brick work that are the building's structural materials. In contrast, custom paneling, glass corner transoms, 10' ceilings create a truly unique setting of comfort and style. We take pride in our home and make sure all our rooms are clean, safe and comfortable.
Courtyard access is made through the suite's french doors. They do have a privacy lock. Our courtyard is our common space, our outdoor living room. We have 3 seating areas in the courtyard to give our guests some privacy if they wish to relax with a glass of wine in the evening or enjoy their coffee or tea in the morning.

This is our home for 34 years, we live and work on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the main house. We will welcome you upon arrival, help you get oriented to the city and answer any questions you may have. Otherwise, we like to stay out of the way and respect your privacy. You can come and go without disturbing us. That said, please know our concierge services are available at anytime!
We share this historic end of our block with our neighbor and sister building at 510 Race St. Race & Religious, is a popular wedding venue that does book some lively celebrations on lovely weekend nights. Midnight is the expected curtain call for live and recorded music. If you plan to go to bed early on the weekends, in New Orleans, we may not be a good fit.

Nancy and I met in New Orleans 39 years ago. Back in 1981 we came across this historic property on a long forgotten corner of the working waterfront and have been restoring and caring for this place ever since. We raised our 2 children here and rode out many Hurricanes, including Katrina. I am a commercial photographer working primarily with architects, designers, planners, and developers. I'm dedicated to historic preservation and thoughtful adaptive reuse of historic buildings and forward thinking urban planning issues. Nancy is an artist and designer and accomplished seamstress. Her hand bags and accessories have been a feature at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for the past 8 years. She is also passionate about good food, music and the care and upkeep of our home. This amazing city and our home had a positive influence on our kids. Our daughter is an Architect and Interior Designer and our son is a Landscape Architect.
