Located at the end of a country road on 98 acres. this 1870's farmhouse has been updated and yet has many original details. The property has hiking trails, cross country ski trails, a 2 acre stocked pond and water falls. 15 minutes to skiing.
Located at the end of a country lane in East Durham, NY, this 1870’s environmentally friendly farmhouse was built on what is now a 98 acre certified forest preserve (surrounded by over 300 acres of undeveloped land). The main house has been updated to include an enlarged master bedroom with cathedral ceiling and a large attached deck overlooking the northern end of the Catskill Mountains and our organic garden below. There is a large stone fireplace in the living room and an updated kitchen. With waterfalls, pond and hiking trails you will have the option of quiet serenity or active outdoor activities.
Additional services available include massage, acupuncture and catered meals. The house includes a fully stocked kitchen for cooking because no meals are included in this rental. All additional services must be set up in advance of bookings. There are nearby restaurants, shopping, galleries and four seasons of sports activities. We are 15 minutes from Ski Windham so you can get on the slopes quickly in the winter and in the summer there is mountain biking, fishing and no shortage of swimming options (one of which is our seasonally heated pool).
You never have to leave the property to enjoy all the mountains have to offer. Peace and quiet plus hiking and swimming. All common areas are open to our guests. This includes our trails and organic garden. Fresh fruit and vegetables are available in season along with fresh eggs.

The original property as we bought it in 1986 consisted of an 1870’s post and beam farmhouse with a 1940’s addition. The main farmhouse will be what you are renting. This includes a country kitchen and living room with fireplace and laundry room on the main floor with 3 bedrooms and a beautifully renovated tiled bath with double (romantic) shower upstairs. Your hosts live in the 1940’s attached addition. You should have complete privacy while still having us close enough to assist in any of your needs.
The home is heated by a geothermal heating system and we use solar panels for energy. There is a two night minimum. Some Holidays require 3 night booking.
The property is yours to enjoy. There are a number of requests we make. There are currently 2 well marked hiking trails but many guests take advantage of our full 98 acres. If you plan on going beyond the two marked trails we would like you to tell us so we know that you are out there. We do have maps and trail markers to assist.
While you have the house to yourselves we do expect a reasonable sound level and normal neighborly behavior. We hope that you treat our property as you would expect your guests to treat your property. This is a no smoking house. Feel free to smoke outside or on the deck but please clean up any butts. It is a house you can party in, but not a party house. We only accept guests that are 25 or older but will accept guests 21-24 with our prior permission. We also ask that any children age 2 and above are included in the total guest head-count.
Guests are not permitted to bring or use any unregistered motor vehicles on our property. Hunting is by permission only and no firearms of any kind are allowed on the property without prior permission. Due to the nature of the properties many physical risks that exist the responsible booking Guest is required to execute a Liability Waiver prior to occupancy.
I am a transplant of 28 years from Manhattan. My husband dragged me kicking and screaming out of the City and now I wouldn't have it any other way. I enjoy organic farming, outdoor activities, reading and being with my family. I am 66 years old with three grandchildren and a fourth on the way. I own my own business in town and would love to share the love of my property with you!
