From a covered deck with a spectacular view, steps take you down to the quiet, sandy beach. The water is clear and pleasant for swimming. The quiet, forested neighborhood features many hiking and mountain biking trails. You can easily walk to the ferry that takes you to Vancouver or hop on a bus that takes you to charming Lower Gibsons. This is a comfy, relaxing retreat for writers, vacationers, and anyone who wants to enjoy the beach and nature while having an easy commute to Vancouver.
This is the ground floor of a large seaside cottage. The accommodations include a kitchen, a large great room with a gas fireplace; a water-facing deck; a small bedroom with a view; full bathroom and shared laundry room. Wifi and a flat screen TV are in the suite.
Renters have full access to the beach and outdoor spaces. The suite has two private entrances: one onto beach-facing deck and the other onto the side yard, which adjoins a regional park. The owners live upstairs but are often in Vancouver. If we're away for a while, you will be given a neighbor's phone number in case you need anything. Your host Al works in marketing at a Vancouver college and takes the ferry to work. Elizabeth is a writing teacher and published author.
The neighbourhood is quiet and wooded with a winding road that will take you to the ferry entrance (an 8 minute walk). The kitchen opens onto a grassy side yard and forest beyond. There is a regional park next door. Three flights of stairs and a ramp take you to the sandy beach at the bottom of the property.
We welcome kids aged 5 - 12 and pre-approved dogs.
My husband Al and I looked at over 150 properties before we found our home. Al calls it a tree house because of the wonderful forest setting. I call it a beach house because I love our beach. Living here is peaceful, and it also helps us be healthy because of the hiking, swimming, and kayaking we can do so close to our home. I'm a writer working on my third non-fiction book. The second, The Demon in My Blood, was published by Greystone Books in spring 2017. Al works in marketing at a college in Vancouver. He commutes there three days a week and entertains his colleagues with his great sense of humor. We enjoy meeting guests from all over the world.
