Peaceful private bedroom in an absolutely gorgeous and spacious apartment in the heart of Astoria. The neighborhood is exciting, the apt is quiet. Extremely convenient and quick to Manhattan via the NQ train. I'd love to welcome you to NY!
I absolutely love my apartment. I have been here for 5 years and have fully made it into a home. Because I am a muralist and designer, I am very aware of how one's living environment can affect their mood and experience when they're home. This incredibly spacious apartment is filled with light, art, books, games, and (I like to think) a happy and warm energy. The room available has just been re-painted and decorated. I wanted it to be simple, peaceful, and inviting. The surrounding neighborhood is exciting, but I love how quiet the actual apartment is. It is on the back of the building, where there is a small garden plot and lots of space between it and the other buildings allowing for a lot of sunlight. There's blackout shades too, if early morning sun isn't your thing ;).
You have access to the whole apartment except my bedroom. There is a closet in your room for you to use.

I tend to be a healthy combination of private and friendly. Meaning that I'd love to share tips about travel routes, museums, which restaurants I love in the neighborhood and the city- but I also like alone time and am more than happy to give guests space. If you want to make tea and chat about your plans for the next day- I'm into it, but I also won't be offended if you want to hang in your room all night.
-Very comfortable brand new Queen size bed.
-There will be towels, linens, hair dryer, closet, full size dresser, hamper, iron, and ironing board in your room.
-Coffee and Tea are complimentary in the kitchen. Feel free to buy groceries and cook- there is ample space in the pantry and fridge. The kitchen is fully stocked (and then some) with dishes, appliances, pots, pans, etc.
-Hi Speed wireless internet.
-Air Conditioning in the warmer months- great heat in the colder ones.
-Wonderful laundromat is one block away.
-Excellent Othello's Deli on the corner with everything you need.
Because I live in the space as well, I prefer female guests, or in some cases couples. Men who have been on Airbnb for awhile and have some good reviews and verified IDs will be considered as well. For longer stays, I'm happy to do a quick phone chat so neither of us feel like we're moving in with a stranger :)
Generally I'm pretty easygoing, just be respectful of the space, items in it, and myself.
Things that are important to me are:
-No Pets :( I love animals but the building doesn't allow them.
-Noise level must be low after midnight. I am a light sleeper.
-You must lock the door when you leave the apartment. There is a code so it is very easy. It will not lock on it's own so this is extremely important. All windows in your room must be closed and locked when you leave as well.
-No additional guests/new friends/hottie from the bar may be brought back to the apartment other than the ones officially staying there. This is not a party house. Feel free to party elsewhere and come home to crash like I do :)
-Enjoy use of the kitchen and all the appliances, please ask if you have questions about anything. Please clean up all dishes and mess if you cook something right away.
-If you need to borrow something- it's probably totally fine- just ask first.
-Please do not eat a full meal on the sofa in the living room. There is a dining table in the kitchen with chairs. Please don't eat meals in bed as the linens are white and that's inviting disaster haha.
-Don't touch the art or prints in the apartment as it is very damaging to them.
-Recycling is REQUIRED in Astoria and in my building we are responsible for separating it from the trash. I know it can be a pain and sometimes confusing (there is a clear list of requirements on the fridge) but let's be green and get into it!
I am a late 20-something New York Muralist. I love to do art, sing, travel, and read. I like to "nest" and decorate the place I call home, but still get fits of wanderlust and have to leave for adventures.
I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world. My favorite experiences have been the ones where I am able to stay with locals, or get to know a new place through the people that call it home. I hope I can be that person for you while you stay in New York!
