Located in an exuberant tropical beach that's never crowded, the house integrates seamlessly into dense atlantic rain forest with beautiful waterfalls, while providing all the comfort you can expect from an award winning design. A perfect getaway.
This house is a product of much love, creativity and work. It has been designed by professional architects using recyclable materials and permaculture principles. For example, all gray water is treated in a closed loop bio-septic tank that feeds a banana plantation.
It won the 1th Prize for "Architecture - Built Work Award" on the 10th Young Architects Award of the Architecture Institute of Brazil. Search the web for "casa bonete pedro saito" for more details.
The house, the garden and the grounds including the river and small waterfall are all accessible to guests.
The first 2 levels of the tower are used by the caretaker as a tool shed and for general house construction and maintenance, and are not to be used by guests.
The third level is a private bedroom with an amazing view for you to enjoy.
We also have surf boards available if you want to enjoy the nice tubular waves in the beach.

The grounds caretaker, Jaro, will come to the house around sunset every day to feed the dog and can provide assistance if needed.
The area is well known for a persistent mosquito called "borrachudo" that bites during the day.
Make sure to pack plenty of insect repellent and to wear loose covering clothes. We recommend using the mosquito linings provided for each bed at night.
If you are sensitive or allergic to mosquito bites then Bonete won't be a pleasant experience for you.
Since the house is attached to the State Park's permanent reservation area, you could encounter snakes and insects, please be careful when adventuring into the park.
Electricity is limited, provided by a community generator currently or solar panels (we're waiting for a replacement part so that's not working now). The generator works from 8am to noon and 3pm to midnight. Please use economically and hairdryers or such are not allowed. Take flashlights for when there's no electricity and for walking on the paths at night as there's no public lights.
Electricity is limited, currently it's only available from 8 am to noon and from 3pm to midnight. Use economically, hairdryers and similar equipments not allowed.
Please notify us of anything broken, damaged or dirty. We want to make sure our guests have everything that they need and will provide replacements and cleaning.
We use a permaculture toilet treatment system, please do not flush paper down the toilet.
30% of the grounds (a 30 meter band on both sides of the river) is a permanent preservation area of the state park which we are restoring. Please do not remove any fauna or flora as many are endangered species.
There's a big chance there will be fruits and herbs blooming in our garden, help yourself.
Please respect the locals, their traditions, and the environment.
The house dog, Nega, is very friendly, socializes well with other dogs, loves to play fetch and will accompany you to the beach and on hikes.
Please do not feed her as she is sensitive and on a diet.
She, and your pets (who are very welcome) must stay outside the house at all times.
We know you'll fall in love with her, but please understand she has lived here all her life and can not go back with you.
Love to travel, mostly to see nature, and hosting friends at our house on the most beautiful beach in the world.
Permaculture and Eco Architecture are hobbies, programming free and open source software a passion, making teams develop great software a profession.
As an artist I research creative tactics of applying sustainable technologies to social shared living, like our closed loop banana-tree bio-septic tank.
As a host I make sure my guests have everything they need for whatever they're looking for.
