Tamsin is a reliable, friendly and funny (!) host. We've totally enjoyed our week in Mèze. Her house is splendid! Painted in different shades of grey, well equipped and just a romantic hideout although in the centre of Mèze. Just have breakfast in front of her window that offers you a wide angle on the beach. The beach is indeed a 2minutes walk from the house and a market/bakery/tabac is just around the corner. Mèze is calm but also quite chatty. You definitely get into a conversation if you want to :) The port is amazing! Because of the tiny streets (we did that once and would never ever park our car there again :-) you'd better park the car in front of the beach area, unless you've got an old car :) There are a lot of vineyards in the local area - so don't buy vine in the supermarket and explore the region! For the dog owners: There are two beaches (40minutes drive) where you can take your dog to but there is no chance that it is allowed in the beach area in Mèze. The dog beach we can recommend is the one in Portiragnes. The most beautiful beach is a 20min drive: plage des aresquiers. Sète is just a 20min drive, too. (and charming as well). If you want to go on a cultural stroll: the Pilgrim's Route to Santiago de Compostela passes through several villages in the surroundings (we're not religious but we discovered it by accident. :) And the university of Beaux Arts in Sète has a lot to offer in its streets. To be honest, I wanted to give a zero stars review in order to book it myself all of the time :-) Please be her guest - everybody needs at least one secure perfect holiday in France per year.

Tamsin's little house is absolutely gorgeous and in a totally delightful little town. It's amongst the ancient narrow streets of the fishing town of Meze, just moments from the sea and moments from the local market. The beach is perfect for families. It gives onto a lagoon, rather than the open Mediterranean, meaning the sea is much calmer, shallow for a good 20 metres out and beautifully warm. We went in late July and it was not at all busy and very clean. The house itself is very small. Perfect and very romantic for a couple. Technically it can sleep 5 (sofa bed plus folding single bed) but this would be a real squeeze with everyone's luggage etc. and the lack of doors between rooms would limit privacy. It is arranged over two floors, with the main bedroom and shower room and snug lounge downstairs and a kitchen dining area upstairs, with another loo. The best bit about it is the gorgeous view from the (well equipped) kitchen. Better than you'd find in any hotel room! Light floods in and you have views over the oyster fields in the lagoon and boats bobbing prettily. All the windows have beautiful original French shutters which can be closed while you're out to keep the heat out. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with generous touches, like a fluffy towel dressing gown, and there were also a good number of useful bits and pieces in the cupboards like herbs etc. The one thing that could be improved is the mattress in the main bed which is rather uncomfortable. Logistics were perfect, with a lovely lady called Lucy who stayed up to give us the keys after we arrived on a late flight. Many thanks to Tamsin and Lucy for a lovely stay. It's the archetypal 'bijou' apartment - very special indeed- in a real gem of a town.
