Hello Jean !
First of all, I would like to thank you for the deep analysis you did. I read carefully your comment.
It's true that the Moulin is an old house. None the less, to my mind, there is a subtil mix of old-fashioned things and modernity. Don't forget that we are talking about a watermill of the 17th century ! We do efforts every years to provide to this house more comfort. For instance, the two bedrooms and the big terrace were build few years ago.
We understand your point and let me tell you that we already made some arrangements. We bought a coffee machine, we repainted bed room and bathroom and we asked the cleaning lady to be more careful about the little details you noticed.
My family and I always lived in big cities and even in Paris, this house is our vacation house. So I don't thing that it's a matter of "urban habits". Maybe american standards aren't the same than the french ones ?
I do appreciate that you noticed the charm of the house. Don't you thing that if it was more modern it would be less charming ?
Besides your discomforts, I hope you'll keep a great memory of the Moulin and the Basque Country !
