I don't believe there is a better view with such privacy even near this price on the entire island! The other places we looked at were either on the hills- lovely view but too far from the water. Others were part of condo associations with neighbors right next door. This villa was part of a small, quiet neighborhood, completely separate from the neighbors. Gilbert, Shadine's partner, was incredibly helpful. (Shadine was on vacation) We were arriving on New Year's Eve, so he picked up groceries for us. He responded immediately when we called with any questions, and my husband always has lots of questions. He even asked Carelli, the woman who cleans, to bring us some foil to grill our barracuda steaks on, when my hubby called him for advise on using the grill. Definitely buy barracuda from the local fishermen. Just as the pictures show, the balcony is immediately over the ocean. The water below is so clear, we could actually identify the fish in the water. There is a private entrance with parking and courtyard behind a locked gate. The kitchen and main living spaces have plenty of room for everyone, and there are several areas to escape to if your kids are getting on your nerves (Not that I needed that!). We did not use it, but there is also a separate building with a bedroom and full bath. There was a constant breeze so the communal living spaces were cool and nearly bug free. There is effective and quiet AC in the 3 bedrooms in the main house, but not in the separate building. Lots of hot water, which is apparently not the case in many of the places to stay on the island. The private pool was a lovely spot to relax at night and look at the stars- no light pollution. Two things to be aware of- this is on the far western end of the island, which we found lovely and quiet. Curaçao is known for outstanding snorkeling and diving off the beach, and most of the best sights are on the western side. There are plenty of very good restaurants but the closest stores are about 20 minutes away. There is no night life per se, but all of the restaurants have bars and very friendly staff. A big market and Willemstad are about 50 minutes away, so if you are planning on doing a lot of cooking, buy your groceries before you drive out, or stop after visiting Willemstad or snorkeling at Tugboat, a world renown snorkel and dive sight. You are right next to the 2 national parks. One of the best dive shops and 2 outstanding snorkel sights are walking distance. The other thing is that there are 1 or 2 steps between most of the rooms. This would only be a problem if you had limited mobility. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.
