Private, double room on the 2nd floor of a Victorian terraced house (NB up two flights of stairs), five minutes walk from the centre of Whitby. Continental breakfast provided, private bathroom, free wi-fi, TV. Fridge, kettle, microwave, hairdryer in room.
This space is ideal as a comfortable base from which to explore Whitby and its surroundings. The room contains a double bed, small sofa, TV, and mini-kitchen with fridge, microwave, sink, kettle and toaster. Continental breakfast is provided, and you're welcome to bring in a take-away or prepare a simple meal here as you relax later in the day (though Whitby has plenty to offer the hungry traveller too).
A spacious private bathroom is right next door with Victorian bath and a (not Victorian!) shower. You may also choose to add a second bedroom on the same floor for your stay. This has a triple sleeper bunk bed (3ft + 4ft).
Access to the space is through our home on the ground and first floor, and you'll be given a front door key for your stay. There are steps to the front door and two flights of stairs up to the guest floor - sadly we can't offer disability access.
You will have access to TV and wi-fi in your room, and printing facilities are available on request.

A folder of local information is provided for you, but we're happy to give more detail in person or by phone. We run a local business so may not be in the house at all times but can be contacted if you need help or information.
There is on-road parking and at times this can be much in demand, though it's usually possible to find a space fairly close to the house. If you have difficulty we suggest you contact us and we'll help you find a space nearby.
Please be aware the room is up two flights of stairs - we've had a few people not realise despite the description!
Check-in outside the normal times may be possible - send us a message and we'll help if possible.
No smoking in the house please - but the front garden is available for this.
You may come and go as you please - but please be considerate after midnight (and we'll do the same as we leave for work in the morning).
With my husband Jim I run a music shop in Whitby and an annual world music festival (Musicport). We have lived in Whitby since 1991, having moved here from Nottingham though both of us originate from South London.
We enjoy singing and playing music and go to local folk clubs, acoustic sessions etc when we can, as well as going to events and festivals as well as those we organise.
We have a daughter and two small grandchildren who live nearby and we enjoy spending time with them.
We'd love to travel more but rarely get the opportunity to get away - so it's good to meet different people through the shop, our festival and of course through hosting with Airbnb!
