Four-story small sunny rowhouse in very desirable Rittenhouse Sq. area: Lots of shops and within walking distance of all major tourist attractions. Three bedrooms, living and garden spaces, finished basement guest/playroom. Four nights stay minimum.
This is my own house, furnished lovingly with mid-century modern style and with traces of family life everywhere. It is a sunny, lovely little house with four floors in the best neighborhood (my opinion of course) in Center City Philadelphia. The city in this area feels very European. I would say the house has four bedrooms, but the last is a finished basement/playroom with an inflatable bed. The street is a picture-perfect traditional 1890's Philadelphia "stable" block--all of the houses were formerly stables and inns. The street is tree-lined and quiet, yet near everything.
You can access the entire house and garden. (No finished roof decks, unfortunately.)

I will not be able to interact unfortunately, as I will be in London, but I will have someone to welcome and orient, and all of my neighbors will be there to help. You will feel as if you are living in Philadelphia. There are no reviews of the house because this is the first time I have listed it, but will be glad to have a conversation with you if this makes you hesitate.
I hope you are very comfortable and make yourselves entirely at home. I myself use Airbnb throughout the world and know what it means to stay in the intimacy of someone's home. I ask that you respect my things and care for them. There is no one living above or below, but the music should be moderate, late at night as the house has neighbors on either side.
I am an architecture professor at UPenn in Philadelphia. You can search for me easily to see what I do--basically write books about cities and architecture. I appreciate all things urban, and I like to travel to many places in the US, but return very often to NYC, which I regard as a home away from home. I also travel every summer to Paris where I lead a summer program for graduate students. From there I usually take trips around Europe for a week or two. I like clean, spare places with plenty of light. Size does not matter as much as the quality of the space. I always take care of places that I stay in, as I appreciate material qualities and cherish the ambiance of wonderful places. I like to live gracefully and cleanly, and have great respect for generous people (like you) who open their spaces to others.
