Enjoy your own private garden room in a real NYC artist loft. Smoke & pet free home. A great place to unwind from the crowded city. Large, bright & airy room features original artwork, a small private garden, firm bed, huge handcrafted modern desk, cafe table, lots of pillows, & soft linens. The huge loft space is great to spread out in with lots of vintage curiosities to enjoy.
The space features unique original architectural wood columns and beams, the only space in the building with a buttress. We keep our space neat, clean and free of extra clutter. The decor is New York eclectic, featuring a wide range of original art, spacious living room, beautiful salvaged vintage fixtures and other vintage curiosities. The bath features a clawfoot tub/shower and vintage porcelain sink. This loft space was once the crash pad for the band Blue Oyster Cult, and the long time home of their sound mixing guy.
The loft is quiet and peaceful most days, evenings, and nights, though we do live in New York City and DUMBO is a very vibrant neighborhood. Peaceful does not mean silent, even the forest has sound. If you're a light sleeper, be aware there is some ambient noise, as can be expected in any area of the city.

The building hallways retain their raw industrial look, the interior of the living space is very comfortable, as you can see from the photos.
The building was built about 1880 and has a rich industrial age history. It is home to the modern paint can, invented by John W. Masury. The austere facade and denticulated cornice represent the vernacular style of industrial architecture popular in the late 19th century.

I've lived in New York for over 20 years, so if you need information, just ask. I am an extrovert and love meeting new people, but also like my private time and won't ever encroach on yours. Feel free to ask me if you need any information.
Since the space is large and spread out, sometimes you can go most of the day without seeing or hearing anyone. Both my husband Ken and I live in the loft. I rent out two rooms here on Airbnb.
An earlier check-in maybe available, just ask.
You can leave your bags until your flight or drop off your bags before check-in. Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan for it.

The first things people notice about me is my smile and enthusiasm for life. I am imaginative and creative. People fascinate and inspire me. I love a good story and sharing tea with friends old and new. I am also a seasoned traveler, have lived in New York City since 1992, and have lots of great New York City stories about the neighborhood, just ask!
I work as a metalsmith and jewelry designer at Jewelry by Anna Harper.
I love indoor gardening, have a bonsai that is 30 years old, collect miniature orchids and haworthia. I also have other cacti succulents and a few large tropical plants. I like to start my day with yoga. My favorite down time activity is reading for hours and drinking way too much tea. I'm quite the tea geek.
