Barbara's studio is a warm, bright 300 sq ft. space with a new bathroom and a secluded private entrance.
We're on a quiet residential street in the lower Oakland Hills, with ample free street parking and easy freeway access to San Francisco.
Your studio is a very generous size, with plenty of space for 2 people to stay in warmth and comfort. We've set it up to be very livable, with lots of room around the comfy queen sized bed, both closet and dresser space (plus bookshelves if you really want to settle in!), an armchair by the window and a desk to work at.
The newly installed bathroom is fresh and modern, with a nice powerful shower. We provide a fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toaster, so you can prepare breakfast and snacks. The large sink doubles as a dish washing station for your morning cereal.
We offer both Wifi and Ethernet internet connections, so it's good for getting work done. We're pretty quiet, and your space is below our dining and living rooms, so at night especially we won't disturb you - our bedroom and bathroom are at the other end of the house.
Your private entrance is to the side of the house up 20 steps (we're on a sloping lot), and is set well back from the quiet street.
There's no access from the studio to the main house so you'll have your privacy and can come and go as you like.

We're happy to give you your space, or equally we'd be pleased to help out with tips about Oakland and the Bay Area. Both my husband and I love it here and enjoy sharing our passion for the area :-)
We are LGBT friendly and respect everyone as equals. We both have international backgrounds and love meeting people from all over the world.
Please be aware that there are 20 steps leading up to the studio, so this may not be a good choice for those who have difficulty with stairs.
You're welcome to use the washer and dryer in our house - just knock! Antosh works from home so is usually around during weekdays.
We're happy to lend you tennis rackets and balls to use at the local park :-)
- Please no extra overnight guests
- Please leave your shoes in the hallway
- Don't use strong fragrances as they can hang around for the next guest
- Please respect the space and be reasonably quiet
I work at the University of California. I've recently become obsessed with both knitting and cycling.
I can't go very long without getting the itch to travel somewhere new, and I love learning new languages.
