Quiet, cozy room in private home. Ideal for single female traveller. Lovely neighbourhood close to beach, restaurants and shops. 30 min to downtown by TTC. Shared bathroom, kitchen and living room area. Non smoking. Must be ok with sweet, quiet dog.
You've got the "magic" room! When I first moved into this house in 2008, I chose to sleep in this quiet room instead of the bigger master bedroom, because of the cozy feeling I got in it. I started to call it the "magic" room because of the lovely, satisfying, deep sleeps I had, and the happiness I felt each morning waking to the birds singing in the trees outside. Every now and then, I still sleep in the "magic" room for its warmth and cheeriness, and for the magic effect it has on the quality of my sleep!
The magic room has a magic closet, a magic carpet and a little magic desk. (Okay, yes, I'm exaggerating, but wouldn't that be fun?) You'll have clean fluffy towels and fresh bedding for the comfortable double futon mattress. The room is on the second floor next to our shared washroom, which is clean and bright with a spacious shower.
My house has a charming, cottage-like feel. It is welcoming and warm with old matchstick hardwood floors (with matchstick squeaks), and raw, rustic wood accents. The first floor is open concept, the kitchen and living room bisected by an old wooden staircase. The modern kitchen is bright with a lovely deck overlooking the back yard and peaceful green-space beyond the yard. Sitting on the back deck is like sitting in the trees!
You will have access to the kitchen, the washroom, the living room and the back deck (off the kitchen) including the barbecue. You are welcome to make your own meals, and to spend time leisurely in all these areas. Laundry is available on request. Hook up to the wifi and you'll be connected to the world.

My routine changes from day to day and sometimes I work from home. It is likely that I will be around to chat, to exchange travel stories, and to offer you great tips for your stay in Toronto. I am equally respectful of privacy and solitude if that is your preference.
I have a medium-sized, 11-year-old dog, Millie, who is sweet, gentle, respectful and somewhat aloof (unless the racoons are about or unless you have a T-R-E-A-T to offer her!) She is generally calm, and excellent with strangers. When you arrive, she will sniff you briefly, and then either stand around awkwardly for a pat or curl up for a nap. If she really likes you, she may turn around and offer you her backside to scratch. Lucky you!
I keep the guest room as a dog-free zone, so I do ask that you always keep the door to your room closed tight.
- Front door must stay closed when not in use so that Millie does not go out.
- No guests.
- No smoking.
- No access to basement or back yard.
- Guest room door must be kept closed when you are not there.
Please also be mindful that the house is small, so try to keep noise to a minimum late at night and in the early morning.
Hi there! I have built my life around the performing arts and meaningful applications of art in the service of others. I currently work in elder care settings using theatre, performance and humour to enhance the well-being of residents living with Dementia. I have a cozy little house in a charming neighbourhood in the East end of Toronto known as the "Upper Beach." I live here with my sweet, 9 year old dog, Millie, and we are both looking forward to welcoming you into our home. I am an experienced traveller (France, Brazil, South Africa, USA, Italy, Greece, other parts of Canada) and I love learning new languages - I enjoy speaking French (fairly fluently), I am learning Portuguese, and I have some basic knowledge of Spanish and German.
