Panoramic views of the mountains and the harbour; conveniently located on a major road with seamless access to all kinds of entertainment and activities. Luxuriously furnished & fully equipped; this is Tintin's " Roof-Top"; the explorer's abode.
A question that probably comes to mind is why TinTin's "Rooftop"? To answer that, one will have to answer a couple of other questions: who is TinTin and what does he stand for? TinTin (for the uninitiated) is a character created by legendary Belgian cartoonist Hergé; his creator intended for him to be a reporter, a traveler, a detective and last but not least an explorer; eventually, he became everybody's best friend! Understandably, the abovementioned leads us to our questions of the moment: who should TinTin remind you of and what does he have to do with you? Inadvertently, his attributes and qualifiers should remind you of yourselves! Yes, YOU!!!, the travelers, that special lot who explore all those wonderful new places, investigate what it is that they have to offer and gratefully report and share your experiences with the rest of us. Invariably, each one of you has a TinTin inside of them just waiting to burst out into the open scene. In order to assist you in your quest for bringing about that aspect of your personality, I have availed this little wonder of an apartment in this modern, suitably located and highly secure building in the artsy, trendy and buzzing Cape Town suburb of Woodstock. Befittingly decorated in a modern "Ligne-Claire" inspired style that still evokes a healthy portion of that cozy rustic familiarity, this place is warm and inviting, and it constitutes a labour of love. The space is adequately and tastefully equipped with all the essential tools to keep your inquisitive mind at ease and forever prepared for the larger than life adventures that lie ahead. Finally, I welcome you to your new existence as the perfect embodiment of "TinTin in Cape Town".
1.Neighbourhood: Woodstock is a quickly gentrifying part of Cape Town. In the last decade or so a great number of young, prosperous and funky professionals have moved into its Victorian style houses and added a hipsters' touch and an exquisitely exotic aroma to this colourfully historic part of the mother city.
2.Vagrants, Squatters and Beggars: Like many other Urban settlements around the globe, the fast paced modernizing trend has had its unfortunate byproducts in the Mothercity. One of its glaring representations is the noticeable presence of the street squatters, homeless vagrants and beggars. On the upside, they are for the most harmless people who are trying to get by with whatever change they can collect from the passers-by. Please don't be alarmed or threatened by their proximity, for they are part of the Urban Landscape.
3.Security: The apartment is on the sixth and last floor of a very modern building. The perimeter (including the entrance) is protected by a high voltage electrical fence. Moreover, there is only one single access point safeguarded by a remotely controlled Heavy Iron Gate. Only tenants and certain members of the "24 hr manned security staff" have access to those remote controls which are unique and can't be duplicated. Parking is on the premises and is completely and totally isolated from the surroundings. It can't get any more secure than this...
4.Bed and Beddings: The Bed is South African Queen Size (188 cm X 152 cm) and fitted with a nine layer Cloud Nine mattress for the utmost comfort and restful nights after those enthralling mountain hikes and mellowing beach strolls. There are many duvet-inners available meant for different times of the year (goose feather, polyester, cotton, etc.). The linens provided cover a wide range of tastes and colors from white 500 Thread Count Egyptian cotton, to colored polyester….Trust me, you will find it difficult to leave this bed in the morning!
5.Couch: built at the famous Bespoke Living gallery in Woodstock; this very large and wide conversation piece is fitted with the best high density memory foam and sheeted by the luxuriously durable Hertex Dakota Couscous fabric;…In simpler terms, it is lavishly comfy!
6.Dining Table: made from natural pine wood; this big table (120 cm x 90 cm) easily sits 4 people and allows you to entertain old friends and new. The chairs are all fitted with high density foam scatter cushions made at the same Bespoke Living gallery and from the same materials used for the couch. In other words, dinner in style.
7.Appliances: The apartment has an automatic Bosch washing machine which is easy to use and fabric friendly, a Dribuddi (sort of a tumble dryer) a high quality iron and ironing board, a kettle, a toaster, an egg boiler, a Nespresso Inissia espresso machine (bring compatible pods please), a Dyson bladeless cooler-heater fan (please don't lose the remote!), an Electrolux bagless vacuum cleaner, a hair dryer, a Hisense freezer fridge with water dispenser, a built in electrical stove and oven, and last but not least an automatic dustbin!
8.Internet: what else?!!....High Speed Uncapped WiFi...!!!
9.Entertainment: There is a large Screen High Definition LCD TV, DSTV Explora Receiver (Satellite Dish) with a carefully selected bouquet of international and local channels, an android Media player (bring your movies and music on your preferred storage medium) , and most importantly, all the collection of the TinTin books and a little bit more for your reading pleasure…Boredom just went out the window!
10.Utensils and Cutlery: a full dinner set for 4 people accompanied with all the necessary utensils and cutlery (Steak knife, pizza cutter, etc…), a number of pans and a pizza stone, various types of bottle and can openers, wine, whiskey and regular glasses, Le Creuset espresso mini-mugs and Carrol Boyes emotion mugs complete the set up!
11.Views: the apartment offers magnificent views of the environment: from the private balcony and towards the East, you have Woodstock and its heritage colorful houses and to the South East you have mighty Devil's Peak. From the front patio, you have uninterrupted views of the harbour, Cape Town's City Center Skyline, Lion's head, Table Mountain, etc. And yes, It does feel like an observatory of sorts...
12.Décor: a fantastic amalgamation of spirited and stylish artifacts whose choice was influenced by a fondness for the “Ligne-Claire" art form. Starting with the Bamboo Bird's nest and retro pendant lights fitted with filament bulbs, recessed ceiling led lights, Hennie Meyer Ceramics, Carrol Boyes artifacts, corner shaft lamp, wooden dish rack and cup holder, African Iron sculpture, TinTin posters and collectibles, wooden bench fitted with Bespoke Living cushions, and last but not least Carrol Boyes' – Let's face it aluminum wall clock...simple, modern and beautiful, just like you:)
13.Storage: There is a lot and I mean a lot of storage space and the built-in-closets are fitted with many hangers of both the male and female varieties. Also, there are many drawers, cupboards, a shoe rack, coats hats and umbrellas hanger, etc…I did say a lot of storage space…didn't I?
14.Building and Accessibility: The apartment is located on the 6th and last floor of one of Woodstock's most recognizable and exclusive apartments block. The building, which has been recently renovated, is on a very busy main road (i.e. Victoria Road) with seamless and speedy access to the city center and the Atlantic and Northern suburbs beaches, better still it is a short drive to the warmer beaches of Muizenberg. The building has electrical fences, sliding remote controlled security gate and a 24 hour manned security. Additionally, you shall have access to your own secure parking bay (R32) on the ground floor in the event you choose to rent a car. Furthermore, MyCiti (Cape Town's equivalent of the TFL (London), MTA (New York), BART (San Francisco), etc.) operates two very decently paced bus services that serve the neighborhood: the 102 with its nearest stop at Lawley on Roberts Road (a mere 350 m walk from the building) and the 261 with its nearest stops at Dublin and Old Biscuit Mill on Albert Road (±500 m walk from the location); you may purchase a frequent commuter card (à la Oyster and MTA cards, etc.) at one of the MyCiti hubs in the city (i.e. Adderley). For the more adventurous and budget conscious visitor, Victoria Road has a very heavy traffic of what we in South Africa colloquially refer to as “Taxis", which are actually small passenger buses (or vans) usually white in color; conveniently, it is a 7 ZAR (South African Rand) (0.5$€, 0.33£) ride to the city center. For the more tech savvy and connected traveler, Ubers are abundant and the ride is ± 40 ZAR (2.5$€, 2£) to the city center.
All that is inside the apartment..

You will be staying on your own...a lot of privacy. I also travel frequently but my super friendly assistant Ghouwa is there.
I usually don't like imposing too many rules, but the following should be strictly observed:
1.No parties or loud gatherings as this runs counter to the rules of the building.
2.No smoking and most importantly NO DRUGS.
3.You are welcome to use the couch for sleeping, but please cover it with one of the many bed sheets in the closet.
4.No pets of any kind allowed.
5.No tampering with the firefighting equipment.
