The amount of hospitality and kindness that was shown to me was incredible. Atsuko really made sure I was enjoying myself and went out of her way to help me throughout my short trip. Definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to travel to Hokkaido. Beautiful scenery and amazing people.
I had a fantastic stay with Kuma-san. The ground are beautiful and comforting but the kindness and warmth extended to me as a guest was above and beyond anything I expected. If you stay I would recommend asking if you could join the family for dinner and breakfast. Both were outstanding and provided the opportunity to make new friends I hope to stay in touch with for years to come. Thank you for a special experience !
What a hidden gem! Our family stayed here at the guest house and it was an absolutely lovely experience! It's a great cabin surrounded by nature and solitude. The view of the stars in the evenings was wide and bright and waking up to the snow-frosted branches covering the mountains in the mornings was unbeatable. And then there's the hosts...what a delight! Truly gracious and genuine in their hospitality. It is obvious that they love people, love their land, and love what they do. They went above and beyond to help make our stay a comfortable and a truly meaningful time. It was a joy to get to know them! So, if you're looking for solitude at nature's doorstep and a genuinely superb host couple, then this is the place for you!
The lodge belonging to Kumasanso is huge & spacious with the capacity of 8 to 10 persons. So with just 2 of us, it was nice and almost resort like. Best of all Biratori is in a quite place not too far from Sapporo. There was a food festival on the Sunday we were there at a community park, so it was very merry place. Plus the weather was superb & sunny, but the very next day Typhoon hit southern Hokkaido bringing lots of rain & high winds. There's also a Ainu museum & cultural centre which is quite interesting. As for food, there's Biratori wahyu or Biratori beef, add famous as Kobe wahyu.
