This is a beautiful, quiet, rustic location for a relaxing get-a-way. Evan was a wonderful host, greeting us on arrival, giving a tour and even offering to help with our bags! My husband, daughter and I stayed over Labor Day weekend and the garden was full of delicious tomatoes and basil. We started with a walk down to the water through a beautiful field, picking wildflowers and enjoying the view. The weekend included listening to records while taking in a beautiful view of the water, enjoying a drink and a snack on the back porch, dining at one of the many yummy restaurants in the area, exploring the many nature preserves near the house, visiting nearby beaches and the Pemaquid Lighthouse.
There is no wifi or internet at this house, which helped us to unwind, but make sure to print directions or bring a map if you plan to go exploring. There are also no shades, so if you like to sleep late keep that in mind. We are early risers and didn't mind, especially with the great views. The kitchen is well-equipped and the record collection is extensive. If you are looking for a spot that is quiet, isn't over-run with people, and will enable you to fully unplug and unwind, you cannot do better than here. Also, did we mention the view?
While you are here, check out Moscungus Bay Lobster Pound, Shaw's Wharf and the village of Damirascotta for great local seafood. Riverside Butcher for top-quality meats to cook at home and Fernald's Country store for great sandwiches and homemade blueberry pie. Pemaquid Lighthouse is a great place to explore the Maine coastline, Pemaquid Beach has wonderful white sand and many amenities, and the Pemaquid Pond nature trail takes you to a beautiful lake with nesting loons.
