I could talk about this place for days! Of all 8 airbnb homes we stayed in during our tour of New Zealand, this was my absolute favourite. It was our plan to visit the Waipoua Kauri Forest, and this was the closest airbnb home we could find.
The drive itself is incredible, through winding roads surrounded by greenery. You pull up to the house, nestled in amongst flowers and trees. On the interior, we got so much more than we expected...2 bedrooms, delightful living room, our own kitchen, bathroom, and access to the back deck. Every room has light and nature spilling in through the windows.
Walking out to the back deck just took my breath away. They own 40 acres of land around them. What we got to enjoy was a gorgeous back yard with lush green grass, all enclosed by the surrounding forest. A small creek runs along the right side of the property and across the way are endless flowers and plants. You can hear nothing but the songs of birds and the trickling of water in the stream. To me, it was paradise. We decided to make our trip to the forest quick so that we could spend more time in this home! That's how beautiful it is.
Our hosts Richard and Angela were so wonderful to us. So welcoming and kind. They both obviously put a LOT of work into making their oasis and we were so grateful to have gotten to spend part of our holiday here.
If you're into glamping, they've got another incredibly unique property on their land. A giant dome shaped tent with all the luxuries of home, including your own outdoor kitchen and private bathroom. It's such a unique place, I'd love to come back and stay here too!
The one note I would point out is that their home is about 20 minutes away from any restaurants or grocery stores, so just make sure you arrive prepared :)
