We absolutely loved staying for a month at this beautiful home. For us, it was a perfect holiday. Kit and Jack's excellent rental agent, Paula, met us upon our fairly late arrival.
There were ample ways to keep the house warm on chilly nights. The bed is so comfortable, and the house layout is very spacious as well as cosy, particularly in the living room which has two comfy sofas. There are two large bathrooms, and the ensuite one has particularly good water pressure and plenty of hot water. We often took a space heater in there to warm it up before showering.
The location is great. We found the walk downhill an easy 10 minutes to almost anywhere in Centro, and after a week the walk back uphill was fairly easy too. It takes a while to adjust to the high altitude of SMA. If our guests wished to get a taxi home, we'd call the SMA "radio-taxi" service and they'd be at the door in five to ten minutes.
We enjoyed many sunsets out on the private patio overlooking the city. From the west side of the house, the view of the Parroquia and the lights below is lovely.
It was a pleasure to use the well-stocked, convenient kitchen, and we hosted several meals for friends. We cooked for ourselves a lot. The terrific Soriana grocery store/mall is an easy public bus ride from the main street below (on Salida Queretaro, head west, just 5 pesos). We'd taxi back with our groceries and big bottles of water once a week or so (50 pesos including the driver's help). Easy and well worth it!
Everyone who visited loved "our" place, and a common comment was "spectacular!" Everything about this home is high quality and thoughtfully arranged. There is lovely art on the walls, books, plenty of hand-made dishes, more- than-ample glassware and cookware, and a full-sized fridge and stove. We used the toaster oven and coffee maker every day.
In terms of privacy and quiet, we never felt 'looked-in-at" by anybody. Above us there was construction going on, but the nearest building should be completed soon. There are no windows on that side of the house anyway. However, the entire sides that face north and west have huge windows, so there is plenty of light. They are also very nicely draped, which we appreciated at night.
There is a big TV with several US channels available in the master bedroom. If you didn't feel like laying in bed to watch, there were also two comfy chairs and a side table. My husband did a lot of work using the internet, and there was a desk area in the living room.
We've stayed in many places during our 24 years of living abroad. I'd say this home takes the highest honors of them all. Betty(Kit) and Jack and their help, Ramona and Paula, were absolutely great. Thank you to each of them for all they did to make it perfect!
