This is a private, daylight basement in our 1920 Craftsman home. It's roomy, super-clean, with everything you'll need to be comfortable. Located in the heart of Hawthorne District with all its charm.
The apartment has a separate entrance, bathroom, tv room, eating area and bedroom.
We splurged on a great queen size bed and 100% cotton bedding to ensure a good night's sleep and the entire apartment is spotlessly clean and comfortable.
The bedroom has a sitting chair, small desk, dresser and is light and open. There's a tv room with a couch for relaxing after a busy day exploring Portland. Wireless high-speed internet allows you to stream movies and tv shows, and we also have a supply of dvds available.
There's also a small boombox size stereo to hook your phone up to if you want to listen to music. A washer/dryer is located in the apartment, with laundry soap on site.
The apartment has a private bathroom with spacious walk-in shower. We supply hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, a hair dryer and we usually have a good supply of the “extras," in case you forget anything essential.
The kitchen area has a sink, small fridge, coffee pot and microwave – perfect for reheating leftovers from all the fantastic nearby restaurants and food carts. I have very basic breakfast foods available - cereal, oatmeal, etc.
Guests have their own entrance and are welcome to enjoy the backyard.

We typically greet guests and provide an overview of the apartment, as well as the neighborhood and transportation options. Then we leave our guests on their own, although we are always available to answer any questions that may come up.
We are an active household with one to many teenagers. We usually settle down and migrate upstairs after 9. However, it is a basement apartment of an older home and lacks solid sound proofing. There are cats in our house but we keep them out of the basement. You are welcome to visit with them outside but we ask that you not let them in the apartment.
No smoking. No pets.
No additional party guests.
We consider longer-term stays, case by case.
I’ve worked for social justice all my adult life – lesbian and gay rights, environmental reforms and criminal justice issues. My desire for changing the world is not only my paid work but also my volunteer efforts – eliminating hunger, junior roller derby, racial justice and more.
I’m a single mom who values creating a home that is welcoming. I’m also a long time Portland resident who loves to share this amazing city and if interested, can definitely give you my highlights of what to see and do.
