Cozy and clean apartment for up to five people; experience Harlem, Columbia University, and five different parks in walking distance; short walk to 5 subway lines; 10 minutes to Times Square & Broadway theaters on express subways;
Welcome to Harlem Home Base!
This is an apartment in the Morningside Heights/West-Harlem neighborhoods, right in the middle of Manhattan island.
It has two bed rooms - sorry, no living room but the kitchen serves as a comfortable sitting area.
Each of the rooms has a full-size (a.k.a. "double") bed in it; in addition, there is an extra single-size (a.k.a "twin") mattress for a fifth person to sleep on if such economy accommodation is desired.

128th Street & Convent Avenue - Sunny - Clean - Private
Apartment with two bedrooms available in the Morningside Heights/West Harlem Area of Manhattan. Located between Columbia University and City College. Close to Harlem landmarks such as the Apollo Theater, The Cotton Club, The Harlem Studio Museum, Theaters, Bars, Soul Food, and a great variety of cuisines from around the world. Walking distance to five parks, including Central Park. Harlem these days is a safe, vibrant, and ever-evolving community and a must-visit area for any NYC vacationer.
The apartment is on the second floor (this means one flight of stairs up from street level in this country).
The A,B,C,D trains on 125th Street are a two-minute walk away. The A- and D-trains are express trains: Mid-town (Columbus Circle) is only a 7-minute ride away, the theater district around Broadway (42nd St.) 9 minutes, and the West Village/SoHo less than 15-20 minutes. The 1 train (also 125th St.) is a 5 minute walk away.
I have an eat-in kitchen with pots and pans and all you need, which you are welcome to use. There is wireless and plug-in high-speed internet access in both bed rooms. I keep things tidy and recycle, use non-toxic cleaning products/detergents and no-VOC paints, only. The electricity I purchase is 100% wind power generated.
I provide all the usual amenities, including sheets and towels, and quiet fans in both rooms for those hot NYC summer nights. This is a non-smoking apartment, but each of the bed rooms has a fire escape if you need to step out for a smoke.
Some of the pictures show a small TV set - this is no longer there, fyi.
Fairway Uptown (perhaps the greatest supermarket in town) is about a 10 minute walk (on the Hudson River at 133rd Street.) There's a do-it-yourself and full-service laundromat just around the corner (literally.)
There is free on-street parking. Please familiarize yourself with the signs regarding street cleaning regulations, when you get there.
I frequently travel and make the place available on AirBnB to help out with the cost.
Update: In November 2016 a new construction project was begun across the street from my building. There will likely be some construction noise during work hours. The outside of the building is scheduled to be finished by the late summer/fall of 2017.

I don't know the full price. (Please make sure you entered the correct dates and number of guests.)
Please STEP OUT onto the fire escape to smoke!
Airbnb will put a $200 security deposit charge on your credit card prior to your arrival, which will be returned to your card automatically within 48 hours of your departure (if you haven't set fire to the apartment.)
It is your responsibility to wash your dishes, pots, and pans etc., and to take out the garbage before you depart. If you do not comply with these or otherwise leave the place in a state that requires more than a reasonable cleaning effort I reserve the right to retain a fee from your security deposit ($25 for large amounts of garbage left behind; $25 for dirty dishes left behind.)
If the place smells like cigarette smoke or I find cigarette butts upon check-out I will retain the full $200 security deposit!
I ask to see a driver's license or passport at check-in.
Check-in and check-out times may be flexible if the place is not booked or otherwise needed.
If you have a late flight out of NYC and don't want to carry your luggage around all day you may be able to leave your luggage in the apartment past the check-out time - please check in with me to see if this is possible on the day of your departure. I would ask you to have your items packed and stacked by noon, so I can come in and tidy up.
Sorry, no pets.
I will check in with you to make sure you have everything you need.
I like to climb, on rocks and other things. Originally from Hamburg, Germany, I have been living in New York for many years.
