This apartment is the most wonderful Airbnb rental we have experienced, and since we've had some pretty amazing luck finding great places to stay, that's really setting the bar high. It is not, however, the right place for everyone. There are a LOT of stairs, low ceilings in the loft, no air conditioning, no screens, and street noise, shouting neighbors, and the occasional screaming baby. If you can deal with those issues and you enjoy being in an antique-filled, warm, inviting home that practically oozes history and is in the heart of a lively neighborhood within minutes of all that the old city of Florence has to offer, then it just doesn't get any better. Our charming host speaks excellent English, gave clear directions to the house and first rate recommendations for restaurants and area attractions, and greeted us with a large bag of biscotti and a bottle of wine. His wife has painted wonderful frescoes in the house, and together they renovated and furnished this property in a way that respects its long history and makes you feel like you might walk out the front door and run into Michelangelo and Galileo having a cappuccino in the trattoria downstairs. Comfortable beds, wonderful cookware and fully equipped kitchen, lots of helpful books, excellent wifi, lovely lighting, and plenty of space for my family of four to spread out. Four days of charging six electronic devices and six loads of laundry, plus cooking, lights, lots of showers, etc. cost us 15 euros, for those wondering about the additional utilities charges. We didn't want to leave. Many, many thanks to our delightful host!
