When I travel, I sometimes offer my bedroom for guests & weekenders. The apartment is beautiful and spacious and located on a quiet street in the very heart of the thriving neighborhood of Neukölln.
Neukölln is one of the most vibrant and international areas in Berlin. There are plenty of bars along Weserstraße, my recommendation is Beuster (Weserstraße 32), a nice bar with well-made cocktails that also serves very good food. To take a stroll around the neighborhood, start with the triangle between the canal, Kottbusser Damm and Pannierstraße. Some places I strongly recommend: Chicha (Friedelstraße 34), a hip Peruvian food place serving Ceviche, Pisco Sour & more. Roamers (Pannierstraße 64) for an amazing breakfast and great coffee in Californian farm house charm. Fräulein Frost (Friedelstraße 38) for the best ice cream in town and Schiller Burger (Schönleinstraße 34) for the best burgers.
Within five minutes from our apartment you also find Prachtwerk (Ganghoferstraße 2), a work-friendly coffee shop with Wifi, great coffee, many internationals and open stage events at night. Industry Standard (Sonnenallee 83), a bit pricey but delicious, experimental
restaurant with dishes such as beef tartare with yolk, red cabbage, horseradish and yoghurt. In summer, don’t miss out Klunkerkranich (Karl-Marx-Straße 66, on top of Neukölln Arcaden mall) an urban garden and rooftop bar offering the nicest views on the city.
There is definitely no lack of takeaways and imbisses around, the outstanding ones are Imren Grill (Karl-Marx-Straße 75) serving above average kebab with quality meat and Al Pasha (Sonnenallee 77), a cheap but delicious Lebanese spot with some of the best hummus in Berlin. Their Mssabaha, a dish similar to hummus but made with whole chickpeas, is a must.
From my apartment, several banks, supermarkets, banks, drugstores or pharmacies are within 3-5 minutes walking distance.
The closest SUBWAY STATION is Rathaus Neukölln (line 7, three minutes walking). From there it is two stops south to the S-Bahn circle line (suburban train) and a 15 minute commute north to Friedrichstraße or Alexanderplatz in Mitte. There are bus stops at Rathaus Neukölln and on Sonnenallee (Bus M41, three minutes walking). This bus connects directly to Hauptbahnhof and brings you to Kreuzberg.
From the airports you always take a bus first and then the subway, the only direction is always towards the city, not much you can do wrong.
From SCHÖNEFELD AIRPORT (30 minutes): Bus X7 or 171 to subway station Rudow, line 7 goes directly to my station Rathaus Neukölln.
From TEGEL AIRPORT (40 minutes): Bus X9 or 109 to subway station Jakob-Kaiser-Platz, line 7 goes directly to my station Rathaus Neukölln.
