I love to meet new people and have conversation, but am also happy to allow the guest their privacy whenever they need it. I'll be at work during the week and out of town for part of the time. My downstairs neighbor will be able to help out with things if something comes up when I'm not around.
There's no AC, but plenty of window fans. There's free street parking, but watch the street signs, as there are a lot of restrictions, such as needing to move your car twice a week for street cleaning.
Guests are expected to be courteous and respectful to all neighbors, in and out of the house. No smoking in the house, please. Sound carries in the house, so use quiet volumes late at night when others in the apartment or house may be trying to rest. No illegal drugs. No extra un-announced guests or large groups, please.
Please tidy up after yourself (dishes, etc.) and help with taking our garbage when its full (to the outside side of the house). I will be out of the house most of the time, and there is not housekeeping/ cleaning service, other than an initial cleaning of the bedroom. Please participate in keeping the space clean as needed, along with other roommates/ residents of the house.
I'm a Montessori teacher. I enjoy coffee, biking, community, nature, linocut prints, teaching and learning. Lately, I've been learning to play the ukulele and I've become completely addicted to bachata and salsa dancing. I speak intermediate Spanish and Swahili.
I'm a very considerate guest, since I have substantial experience as a host, traveler, and in community living. I've hosted dozens of people from around the world in my NYC apartment through couch surfing. I have also spent several years living in an "intentional community." I enjoy discussions with lots of types of people.
