Bed and breakfast in our secluded and interesting 18th century farmhouse means wonderful views, very comfortable beds with high end linen, antique furniture, free WiFi, one (or two) large bedrooms, sitting & dining rooms, bathroom, separate entrance and WC and use of the garden. Weston Farm is situated within easy range of a huge range of sights in central Scoland and only 40 mins Edinburgh. Continental breakfast inc. Min stay 2 nights.
Weston Farm is an organic working livestock farm set in 900 acres of moor and pasture at the southernmost tip of the Pentland Hills near Dunsyre. Handy for Edinburgh, the Clyde Valley and the Scottish Borders, Weston also provides great walking country with access to many mapped routes. We breed pedigree cattle and sheep and keep several horses, 3 collies, a greyhound, a cat, a quartet of peacocks - and have a Neolithic henge on our land.
The accommodation includes private entrance porch, book room, separate staircase, two large bedrooms, bathroom, sitting room, dining room and downstairs WC. An extra single bed can be put in one of the rooms if required. All the rooms (including the bathroom!) have stunning views over the garden to the valley and the hills beyond and are large, warm and comfortable.
Breakfast is included and guests are free to either have it served to them or to help themselves. The hosts live in the other, separate end of the house and the two ends of the house meet in the middle in the large, farmhouse kitchen. Guests also have their own tea and coffee making facilities in the dining room.
Furniture is mostly antique but the plumbing and heating system is wonderfully modern and there is free WiFi throughout. Beds have feather and down duvets (synthetic available on request), high quality Egyptian cotton bedding, a choice of pillows and electric blankets. Rooms have hairdryers and clock radios. The bathroom has a large bathtub and overhead thermostatic power shower. There is also a downstairs toilet and washbasin.
The sitting room has a wood burning stove which we will light for you on chillier evenings and there are hundreds of fiction and non-fiction books on (nearly) every subject to browse through. Guests also have the use of the beautiful (though slightly untamed) garden and are free to wander round the farm at will.
There is free WiFi throughout the house, 40" Sony television, Blu Ray player and Roku steaming stick with BBC iPlayer, Amazon Prime and Netflix. There is also a hi fi with a wide selection of CDs and access to Spotify.
As there is only one bathroom with bath and shower, the two bedrooms will only be let out at the same time if required for the same booking. If you want to book only one bedroom, the other bedroom will not be let out to any other guest at the same time so that each guest (whether taking one room or both) always has exclusive use of the whole guest wing.
Guests have exclusive use of a self-contained whole wing of the house with its own private entrance porch and private staircase plus garden and patio and reasonable use of the kitchen. The house is very long and the hosts live at the other end of the house, with a separate entrance from the guest entrance.

Hilary and Carey live in the other, self-contained end of the house and will always be there to greet you, show you round and generally be available if needed for help advice on things to do and places to go etc.
We are mostly at home during the day working around the farm but will leave you in perfect privacy - unless you want a cup of tea and chat!
The house is very old so please expect creaks and cracks, the odd draught if the wind is blowing hard (despite new double glazed sash and case windows), wonky floors etc.
Also, there are farm machines and farm animals and guests should take reasonable care when walking around the place. The drive into the yard has a few potholes and if it's wet it will be muddy. Please don't wash your car before you come and bring wellies if you have them. If not, we do have spares and will be happy to lend you some.
Check in and check out times can be flexible, depending on whether we have other guests arriving the same day. No smoking in the house but fine outside.
We hope you enjoy the house and the location as much as we do and that you will feel very much at home here. The house is very relaxed and there are no rules as such, just common sense and care!

I grew up in the hotel business and spent my childhood living in and visiting hotels and restaurants. I also lived in small boutique hotel in the Scottish Highlands where my father was owner/chef (though 'boutique' at that time meant a small shop selling trendy clothes!).
I'm a former academic (now early retired) and live with my husband Carey running an organic livestock farm at Weston Farm, Dunsyre, South Lanarkshire.
The farmhouse is too big for just us so we decided to share the space by doing bed and breakfast and hope our guests enjoy it as much as we do. We also have a lovely old stone cottage in Biggar which we let out for self catering.
As well as relaxing in the house or walking around our 900 acres of farmland, there are an amazing amount of interesting things to see and do in the south of Scotland off the more well trodden tourist trail. The farm and the cottage make great bases for exploring Edinburgh, Glasgow and the countryside surrounding us here. We love welcoming people to the area and we are always happy to help you plan an itinerary.
