My husband and I stayed two nights in the Sawtooth Room while we were in town to bicycle the Banks-Veronia Trail. Julie was happy to accommodate us with a last-minute booking. The Sawtooth Room is downstairs from the main house with its own entrance next to the parking area. There are two other spaces in the main house which were booked when we were there. The main house is a gorgeous old home (1930's) with beautiful flooring and interior furnishings. The neighborhood is quiet and well-maintained, and though in a neighborhood, each home seemed to have its own distinct architecture and "flavor". The Sawtooth Room is quite a large space, with bedroom, bathroom, small kitchen, and sitting area, and decorated in a comfy, cozy way which was quite welcoming. Wifi reception was great, and there was a TV, although we did not use it. Although downstairs below the main house, the space is bright, even in the bedroom. I would suggest that if you are light-sensitive, you may want to bring a sleep mask because the blinds still let in light. Because old houses sometimes come with squeaky floors and the space is downstairs, we were aware of people walking around upstairs but not to any degree that it bothered us or kept us from sleeping or otherwise enjoying our time there. Julie provided numerous amenities, including breakfast, coffee and teas in the room, as well as refrigerator, dishes, towels, and soaps/shampoo. The only thing I found missing was a blow dryer, which may well have been there, but I did not take the time to search or ask for it. Julie communicated with us several times prior to our stay, and met us downstairs when we arrived. She and her husband were friendly and enjoyable to talk to at breakfast, but otherwise gave us our privacy. Any communication during our stay was via text messaging, which worked out perfectly for us. If you are in town to ride the Banks-Vernonia Trail, you won't find a place to stay that is much closer to the trail. It is a short right out the driveway and then across Bridge Street to a paved bike trail taking you over a creek and then connecting you directly to the Banks-Vernonia Trail. We would definitely recommend the Sawtooth Room to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay that is a little off the beaten path.
