Cabana Quixote is a thatched wood cabin on a dirt road in the middle of beautiful nowhere. It is a one-bedroom house that has a porch overlooking the mountains of Torti and is a perfect getaway for those looking to explore the countryside on their own terms. Running water, stove, and a fridge provide the basics but this rustic experience will give you a peaceful place to relax and a jumping off point for several adventures in the area - the caves of Lago Bayano (45 mins), San Blas by land (1.5 hrs) or the Darien Park (1.5 hrs). There is easy bus access and keyless entry and local guides can help you ride horses, explore the jungle, or kill a chicken for dinner if that suits your fancy. American owner speaks English Spanish and a little French and is happy to help you with information.

I came to Panama with the Peace Corps and never left - I live in the here and now except when life doesn't let me. In my spare time I enjoy changing my oil, guitar-strumming, and bicycle maintenance. I am a civil engineer and enjoy building things in hard-to-reach places for people who need them. I like to think I've learned a fair amount about the city and more still about the countryside in Eastern Panama and Darien - happy to share that knowledge with whoever needs it.
This is a country of magnificent beauty if you can keep from letting it driving you crazy...
