** Please note that we will be offering dog sledding tours, snowmobile tours, and aurora viewing opportunities directly from our cabin this coming winter (search "Nautique Sky" for more information), so it will not be available for overnight stay. We apologize for any inconvenience, and would love to welcome you at another time!**
Get out of town, enjoy the northern skies,
and relax in our wood burning cedar hot tub!
Located less than 30 miles north of Fairbanks, Nautique Sky cabin feels like you just drove into the wild. The cabin sits on the top of a hill and its large north-facing windows offer beautiful views of pristine Alaskan scenery.
No running water or electricity (see below for specifics)! Our cozy little cabin will give you the opportunity to share a true rural Alaskan experience with your family and friends.
It can accommodate up to four people with a queen size bed in the loft, and a queen size fold-down futon downstairs. You will be able to cook yummy dinners in our small but fully equipped kitchen, while enjoying the homey feel of propane lamps and the warmth of the fire in the wood stove. You will also get to use a real "outhouse" instead of your typical flushing restrooms... an everyday commodity for a lot of locals living up here in Fairbanks. Soak in our wood burning Hot Tub, relax, and admire the northern skies...!
If you visit during the winter, you will be spending the night in one of the very best spots to enjoy Northern Lights viewing in the vicinity of Fairbanks! Winter activities in the area also include dog sledding (we offer private tours on site), cross-country skiing, snow-machining, winter biking, and snowshoeing.
During the summer, you will be able to enjoy 24 hours of sunlight. Fishing, picnicking, floating, and hiking opportunities are nearby at the Chatanika River Recreation Area, and the White Mountains National Recreation Area (see pics).
THE "OFF-THE-GRID" WAY OF LIFE
The cabin is located 5 miles past the power grid of Fairbanks and is completely "Off-the-Grid."
How does all this work?
*Light is provided with mounted propane wall fixtures; very easy to use and put off an "old fashioned" yellow glow.
*The stove is similar to the one you have at home, a propane powered gas range.
*Water is provided in 7 gallon jugs that sit over the sink...turn on the spigot and it's hands free. If you need it hot, let it sit on the wood stove.
*The fridge is an ice box with blocks of ice in it upon your arrival.
*There is no shower at the cabin, but there are several locations in Fairbanks where you can have showers (including a place located on your way to/from town - different options are listed in our "Welcome Book" at the cabin). You may also use the hot tub as a bath. Water is changed between each and every booking and is usually coming from a nearby river. It is minimally treated in an effort to keep it as clean, and chemical free as possible.
*Toilet? Surprise, Surprise...that would of course be an outhouse! Don't be afraid to keep the curtain open, especially with the Northern Lights out.
Our cabin is pet friendly, upon approval. Please, notify us in advance if you plan on bringing your pet(s) with you. We do require a $25 pet cleaning fee (non-refundable), and a $100 pet deposit. The pet deposit will be refunded to you the day after your departure, unless your pet(s) caused any damages to the cabin or the property. Also, we ask you to respect the following:
- Pets are not allowed on the furniture at any time (unless you bring your own cover and bed sheets to protect the futon and the bed);
- Pets must be in a crate if left alone inside the cabin;
- Pets can never roam the property unattended;
- We do not assume any responsibility if your pet(s) get injured while on our property.
Prices listed include a 8% local bed tax required by the North Star Borough.
Nautique Sky cabin is located about 28 miles from downtown Fairbanks. Access to the Cabin is on paved roads, with only the final 1/2 mile on a well-maintained gravel road.
We strongly suggest that you rent a car as there is no public transportation to get to our cabin. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is not required to access the cabin, but is recommended during the winter months.

We fell in love with Nautique Sky cabin while looking for a home shortly after our move to Alaska. Although we found another place to call home, we kept the beautiful little cabin in mind and were finally able to acquire it a couple of years later! Since then we have kept working towards our dream of being able to spend everyday home with our dogs, while offering a unique experience to our guests: quality nightly rentals and personalized dog tours from a prime spot to enjoy Alaska's amazing skies!
