We are new homesteaders living in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. We have a beautiful ridge we are willing to share with others wishing to experience the real life in the mountains. We offer a variety of workshops along with private camping. Great for families and friends, very private.
Camping on a beautiful ridge in the mountains of Tennessee, experience the real Appalachians.
We can take you down the Laurel Fork for fishing, photo ops or just to enjoy the adventure of being there. The county does stock the creeks here regularly with rainbow trout, red eyes, bass. The McCloud Restaurant is just a few miles from here. Hatfield Knob Elk Viewing Tower is just down the road from McClouds. Then there is the Kentucky Splash Waterpark in Williamsburg KY about 45 minutes a way. Norris and Cove Lakes are also about 45 minutes. Cumberland Gap and Knoxville is around 1.5 hours from here. Wildlife Management Area has just recently moved into our community. (URL HIDDEN) We have some great hiking trails.

You can have your privacy and are welcome to join in whatever we might be doing at the time. We offer several workshops as well, mainly concerning self sustainability. Composting, gardening, harvesting, preserving, dry compost toilets, rag rugs, wreaths and more. We do enjoy meeting people, the camp fire is a great time to get to know each other. Or we can leave you to your own, doesn't matter. This summers' project, we will be working on a cob house.
You can see more pictures at (URL HIDDEN) We have a functioning outdoor kitchen with a cob oven, grill and slow cookers. Dry compost toilet and outdoor shower. Semi-primitive camping. You can bring your own food or we will provide the food and cook it for you for an extra $10 a person daily. I will provide coffee, lemonade and teas. I have soaps, shampoo , toilet paper, etc. You have to have your own tents, blankets, dishes, anything you need for camping. We do charge an extra $100.00 to guide you down the Laurel Fork Creek. It is very much worth it. Besides being absolutely beautiful and almost untouched, it can be dangerous, not only the wildlife, but what we call doing the Laurel Fork Shuffle (I always take a walking stick, and after hundreds of trips through the years, I've only fell about 4 times). It also takes 6-8 hours, can be longer, up to you really.
We don't mind alcohol or smoking as long as no one gets rowdy. You will be asked to leave if there is any arguing. Do not litter or destroy anything. We do ask you to sign a waiver in case of any accidents. We do live in the mountains, so we have Rattlesnakes, copperheads, along with other wildlife like bears. Our dogs usually do a good job keeping most away. We are not racist, everyone welcome . Enjoy

We live here on a beautiful ridge in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. We have been learning about being self sustainable, learning how to homestead. I have a phobia of driving so I make my own income, grow my own food, etc. We have had so many people enjoy this, that I decided to offer the back of our ridge to campers, it's private, no other campers to deal with. You are welcome to join in on any projects that may be happening or stay to yourself. I may join you around the fire at night or not...I'm a big believer in Karma, and this oasis is my Karma.
