Located in Dublin's most fashionable city neighbourhood - Portobello. Historic Georgian town-house with 3 large double bedrooms (sleeps 6). Two reception rooms. Private Garden. Quiet Street. 10 minute stroll (1/2 mile) to St Stephen's Green.

A rare opportunity to stay in an entire 3 storey Georgian house only a ten minute stroll from St Stephen's Green - right in the heart of the city.

Built in the 1830's the house features a majestic drawing room, on the top floor, spanning the full width of the property with two sash windows and a huge white marble fireplace. The room is furnished with a comfortable down sofa and chairs to relax in after a hard day's sightseeing. There is also a formal dining room furnished with an antique dining table and chairs and a marble fireplace. The cool country-style kitchen has a 5 jet gas range cooker with two ovens. There is also a wood burning stove (with a supply of logs) for cosy kitchen suppers. Dishwasher, Fridge Freezer, Microwave, Coffee Machine plus all kitchen essentials.

The rooms throughout the house are furnished with a mixture of antique furniture and original contemporary art.

The three large bedrooms (1 x Double, 1 x King and 1 x Twin) feature beautiful bright sash windows with shutters, fireplaces and antique furniture. Quality beds and white 100% cotton bedlinen throughout. All linens are professionally laundered.

The Master Bedroom is on the top floor and is bright and airy with
a beautiful Georgian antique wardrobe, double bed, dressing table and chairs.

The hall floor 'Library Bedroom' could possibly be the most romantic bedroom in Dublin! It has a large bookcase that almost fills the entire width of the room with 100's of titles on Art, Culture, History, novels and reference books. The room also has window shutters, King size bed (USA Queen Size) and a fireplace with a cosy wood-burning stove.

The Garden level bedroom with twin beds, antique wardrobe and chest - has beautiful views straight out to the lush green Garden.

The large bathroom - which is on the hall floor - has oak parquet flooring, roll top bath with shower over and art-deco style fittings. There is also a separate WC at garden level.

There is a modern washing machine and separate drier with supply of detergents for guest use.

All bedrooms have views out to the private garden which has a circular lawn bordered with clipped box hedging and an array of fruit trees, herbs and wild flowers. It catches the sun all day in summer and is ideal for al fresco lunches. Feel free to water the plants or feed Bobsey the goldfish !

The house is on a quiet tree-lined street of Georgian and Victorian houses. There is a great selection of cafes and shops close by. The local bakery is just across the street and makes fresh bagels and breads every morning. If you fancy a treat for brunch - the Greenery Cafe is just a few steps down the street and they have a lovely outdoor seating area to the front.

There is secure on-street parking for guests. Just let me know if you have a hire-car and I will have the free parking passes ready for you.

The house is featured in the "Dublin Civic Trust" website as an excellent example of a Regency/Late Georgian house c. 1835 where they go on to say "These houses stood apart from more modest homes through their grander design and scale, classical proportions and level of detailing. These houses were considered ideal retreats for professionals from the city and can be found in areas such as Portobello . . ." - Dublin Civic Trust.

Ostale napomene

Please note that this is a three storey house (35 stairs from garden level to top floor) so may not be suitable for younger children or people with impaired mobility. For this reason I have not listed as Child Friendly. NO children under 6 years of age - strict. Also, the house is nearly 200 years old and shows signs of its history through the wear and patina of time which is all part of its unique charm.

The townhome was charming, well-furnished and well-equipped. Dec was super-responsive about ensuring that we had a smooth check-in and we felt very welcomed. The flat was in a very walkable area--lots of great restaurants, shops, grocery stores and pubs. It was on a side street that was relatively quiet and my husband and kiddos all got good sleep. That said, it was almost a 30-minute walk to Trinity College, which would have been great for us and our children--especially had it been nice weather. But the walk was tougher for my in-laws who are active, but elderly, and it full-on-rained our entire stay, making the walk less fun. The shower situation was also not ideal in that the 1 shower was a small circular shower curtain that surrounded the shower nozzle in a tub, which didn't provide a ton of room to move around and gave no access to the shower controls while the curtain was closed. In addition, we split our family of 7 so that some took showers in the evening and morning, and we had a couple situations where the hot water got spotty. Perhaps the situation would have been better if were a smaller group. We enjoyed our stay and Dec was a fantastic host. There are lots of positives: charm, decor, proximity to a fun, convenient and relatively quiet neighborhood, and warmth from the host. The negatives would be the bathroom setup and proximity to many of Dublin's major tourist sights--especially if you have a couple in your group who don't love to walk, and the weather is bad.

Hi Christine - thank you for your comments. There are a few issues I would like to note in response. The maximum number of people permitted in the house is 6. You would have had to agree to this when you accepted the house rules but you had 7 people in your party. You broke the most important house rule. With regard to the distance to Trinity College - It is exactly 1 mile (1.7KM) from the house. The ability of your elderly relatives to cover this distance has nothing to do with me. Also, the weather and the rain have nothing got to do with me and unfortunately I have no control over it. When you stay in an AirBNB you are staying in a private domestic home. I am sorry that the shower arrangements were not to your expectations - perhaps the facilities of a hotel would be more suitable to you and your family's needs in future. You may have noticed I did not leave you a public review. I was most unhappy that you had seven people in your party without any prior confirmation with me. I was also very unhappy at the state you left the house in - dirty dishes and food all over the kitchen and wet towels on furniture and thrown on the floors. I found it a very disrespectful way to treat my private home.

Stayed here for business and could have been happier. The townhouse is smartly appointed and all details were anticipated. Hot coffee was waiting for me, a fire burning and a complimentary bottle of wine standing by to aid with Jetlag. The wifi was rip roaring fast and the location really is a 7 minute walk from st stephen's green and a 2 minute walk from the harcourt Regus location. Dec the host was attentive and available - never needed anything though! I hope to stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at the Georgian Townhouse. Dec was a wonderful host, accommodating our arrival later than we anticipated due to a change in our schedule. We especially enjoyed the downstairs fire and freshly brewed coffee upon our arrival! The house is beautiful and exactly as described in the listing and photographs. After a week of staying in hotels, we really appreciated the space and serenity that this house offered. I only wish we were visiting Dublin during warmer months to enjoy the garden! Thanks Dec for the perfect ending to our Irish adventure!

Wonderful home and wonderful host. Dec was so welcoming and responsive and provided us with a face to face check-in making settling in very easy and smooth. Very well kept, beautiful and spacious home in a charming neighborhood. He was kind enough to provide us with local suggestions upon request and set up his home to suit our travel needs. Even when a couple of things came up on our end during the stay he was so incredibly supportive and responsive and I can't thank him enough for his top notch hospitality. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend others to do the same. Thank you Dec! 3

Dec was there to receive my friends and me. He's a wonderful host who had a warm fire in the fireplace in the big kitchen going for us. There was also a bottle of wine and chocolate. We felt instantly at home and excited about the rest of our stay. I just wish I could've stayed longer, I loved the house. The upstairs living room is especially lovely to hang out in. All the bedrooms are gorgeous. My bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever been in. And it's a great neighborhood with many pubs and restaurants and shopping areas within walking distance. There are also cabs galore. On our last morning we had to scramble to head to the airport and Dec offered to call a cab for us. Wonderful host. Gorgeous place. I'd absolutely recommend to everyone.
