This is a beautiful basement apartment close to UVA, historical sites, wineries and downtown, with lots of privacy. Patio area with seating, and a private entrance. One bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, dining and living room space. We have two very active, sometimes loud barking, but extremly lovable and friendly dogs.
We are in a nice, quiet, friendly, middle class neighborhood, with lots of families. Great acces to UVA grounds, Hospital, football games, JPJ, downtown and Barracks Rd. Shopping Center. Street Parking in front of house. Private entrance and walk around to back of house where entrance is located. Our apartment does NOT have WIFI, again, thats NO WIFI. If you absolutely cannot live without Internet access for your stay, this may not be the place for you. There is an older model TV in the apartment that works fine, and has basic cable. There is a nice, secluded back yard patio area with table, umbrella and chairs.
We are 1.3 miles from UVA campus, and only about a 15 minute walk to the closest UVA bus stop which is on JPA. Lots of folks park in our neighborhood and walk up to Scott's Stadium for UVA football games. We are that close. We are a short drive to the downtown area.

No interaction with guests from owner during your stay, unless you need us, we are right upstairs. We have two active dogs that are out in the back yard and patio area during the day and evening. One large black lab, Molly and a small Pekingese, Daisy. Both of our pups are very friendly and loving animals. Like all dogs, they do bark, and are very active. You may hear them running around upstairs, and out in the yard. They love interacting with people, but we do our best to keep them away from the back yard when we have guests. With our very busy schedule, we prefer independent quests that don't mind having little or no contact with hosts. Unless of coarse you need us, then we are right here to fix any problems that may arise. Our daughter Tara does all of our emailing and online Airbnb correspondence.
My daughter Tara helps us alot with the airbnb site, reservations and correspondence, since we do not own a computer and there is no internet in the apartment. She is a big help, and we couldnt do it without her.
Non smoking, no pets, no overnight guests unless listed during reservation process and approved. This is a quiet residential neighborhood, so please be mindful of our neighbors and respect the quiet evening hours.
The city of Charlottesville now charges a 7% occupancy tax to all air bnb hosts, and it is our responsibility to collect it from our guests. Please read the following about tax written by airbnb. Which is located on the airbnb site.
"What is occupancy tax? Do I need to collect or pay it?
Occupancy tax is a tax on the rental of rooms that your state or locality may require. In many places this is known as an occupancy tax, but may also be known as a lodging tax, a room tax, a sales tax, a tourist tax, or a hotel tax.
Occupancy tax rates and rules vary by city, county, state, and country. They’re generally owed on the accommodations price plus any fees for other items, like cleanings or extra guests. In some places, occupancy tax is required on a per person, per night basis. There are typically long-term stay exceptions that exempt reservations over a certain number of nights. Occupancy tax is generally paid by the guest, but the obligation to remit the taxes to the government usually falls on the host. We expect all hosts to familiarize themselves with and follow their local laws and regulations.
What are my options to collect and pay occupancy tax?
As an Airbnb host, if you determine that you need to collect occupancy tax, you can collect Occupancy Taxes by either incorporating it into your nightly price, adding it within a Special Offer, or asking your guests to pay it in person. In each case, it's important that guests are informed of the exact tax amount prior to booking. If you choose to collect Occupancy Taxes in person, please note that it should be collected only upon arrival and that we’re unable to assist with collection."
As a host, at this time, we have decided to use the "collect in person" for the 7% occupancy tax that is required by the City of Charlottesville for us to charge our guests. We will let you know what the tax will be and you will be required to give me either cash or a check in the tax amount at check in. Thank you in advance for your cooperation .
Iam thrilled to be on airbnb and to be able to open our home to guests. Iam a business owner here in Charlottesville, the proud owner of Lazy Daisy Ceramics, Inc. since 1977. My daughter Tara runs the business now, and lets me enjoy some free time to spend with my husband and friends, and be a host! Tara also helps me with airbnb, she is my partner in all of this, and I couldnt do it without her help. We both enjoy art, gardening, our animals, and Tara is a beekeeper. You may meet our pups on your visit, they are super sweet and friendly and spoiled rotten. Our profile picture is from Mother's Day 2014 with Myself, Tara and Tara's daughter, my grandaughter, Sierra.
