There are all the good premises for a pleasant stay: you are on the Navigli, a short walk from the road axis of Corso San Gottardo-Corso di Porta Ticinese-Via Torino (through which you can easily reach the Duomo), staying at a brand-new apartment (the flat in fact has just been renovated).
You can’t really say that you know Milan unless you visited the Navigli district.
Despite its distance from the sea, Milan has always been a water town, due to the presence of a large number of waterways crossing its territory until the beginning of the last century. This important infrastructure was fuelled by the so-called “Navigli”, that is, three artificial rivers that are still well visible in the south-western (and northern) part of the city. Visiting the Navigli area means to take a step back in time and fantasize about Milan upon a time.
The Navigli is a historically popular district, still partly settled by craftsmen and tradesmen, although today the neighborhood hosts evening and night entertainment locations first of all.
Here you can try the famous “aperitivo” in its most known and appreciated version: between 6 and 9 pm you will be able accompany your drinks with a huge variety - and quantity - of free dishes and tapas. There is no need to move on to the restaurant, although many top quality ones are also found in this area.
The district is also well connected to the Duomo by a typically commercial promenade with a great amount of clothing shops along both sides of the two famous streets of Corso di Porta Ticinese and Via Torino.
Alternatively, a quieter route and can be followed crossing the Parco delle Basiliche (situated between the two very old basilicas of Sant’Eurstorgio and San Lorenzo), a relatively large green area resulted from the bombing of the Second World War.
In addition to the new Darsena market, every Saturday the well-known street market of Sinigallia attracts visitors from all over the city, and every last Saturday of the month such event overlaps with another important antique trade market taking place along the two canals.
The area really represents a true “second center” for the city, especially during events such as the Design Week, due to its proximity to the famous locations of Via Savona and Via Tortona, that are found right behind the train (and metro) station of Porta Genova.
The place is very quite, please keep it so.
Smoking is allowed only in the garden.
Please turn off the aircondition when you leave the place.
Milano is very famous for its recycling. You will find 3 types of garbage: paper/ plastic/ organic. Mattia will explain it when you see him.
You may come with your car to load or unload but you cannot park inside.
In case you are coming for more than a week please tell us if you want extra cleaning (30euro) or you prefer extra sheets.
I am a 61 years old psychiatrist. I live in Tel Aviv and Milan is my second home. It is a place where I've been living in for years during the 70's. I love to travel whenever I can. I like good food and good wine, and to be in the company of nice people from all around the world.
