This Capitol Hill town house is so sweet! Two bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room, patio area, and garden. 3.5 blocks away from the metro and 1.5 blocks from a major grocery store. Great neighbors. The Capitol is only 15 blocks away!
Our house is the first in a row of small, two story, historic town homes that were built in 1913. It is nestled in the middle of a quiet but virbant block, with friendly neighbors all around. This is a brand new listing, be one of the first to experience its charm and convenience while on vacation. The first floor has a living room, a half bath and a dining room/kitchen with a door leading out to the garden which has a patio with a table and chairs. The second floor has two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with a twin bunk bed that has a full size, pull out futon on the bottom. The second floor bathroom has a shower with a tub. Wifi is available throughout the house. It is the perfect place for a family or group of friends to stay, but it also works as a cozy spot for a romantic getaway.
The front door and the back door both have a combination lock. They will be programmed with a specific code for you to use. You can let me know if there are numbers you would prefer to use for this, but I usually just program the last four digits of your cell phone for your code. The front gate will be unlocked when you arrive to allow for easy access. You can find a key to the gate hanging on the hooks to the right of the door if you need them. Here are instructions on how to use the combination locks:
To OPEN the door from the outside:
Enter the your 4 digit code. Once the code is entered, the “Schlage” light will blink and the knob on the keypad surrounding the key hole will engage.
Turn the key-hole-knob clockwise to unlock the door.
Open the door with the lower knob.
To LOCK the door from the outside:
Shut the door.
Push the “Schlage” button - the light will blink and the deadbolt should engage.
Turn key-hole-knob on keypad counterclockwise to lock door.
Light will stop flashing - Please double-check the door is locked prior to leaving.

Interaction with guests will happen via texting and/or phone or email. My husband and I live just a few blocks away and we are available to take care of any issues that might come up at the house. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about our neighborhood and/or DC. We love being able to share this house with travelers.
If you are at our house on a Wednesday between June and November, check out the organic farmers market on the corner of 13th and E St SE. They set up from 4pm to 8pm every Wednesday, and they have an excellent selection of fresh, beautiful fruits and vegetables!
We love our home, please treat the space as you would your own home. We are so happy to share it with you.
There are two trash cans in the kitchen, one for garbage and the other for recycling. You will find them clearly marked. Trash pick up is Tuesday in the alley, so if you are at the house on a Monday night, please put the trash and recycling into the out door bins and set them outside the rear gate for pickup Tuesday morning.
The washer and dryer are in the main bedroom on the second floor. Always keep the door to the washer open. We need to keep air circulating into and out of the washer at all times. Please never, ever, ever shut the washer door. Thank you!
If something breaks, don't worry about it. Things happen, please just let us know.
There's no need to strip the beds after your stay has come to an end, please leave everything as you found it (e.g. clear of garbage, spills are cleaned up, food wastes are disposed of, all metro cards are returned to their basket, toys and books returned to their place, etc).
I'm Jackie. I grew up on Capitol Hill a block from Eastern Market. I have lived in Durham, New Hampshire, Amherst, Massachusetts, San Francisco, California and Brooklyn, New York. I'm so glad life's twists and turns brought me back here to DC, what a great city. It's fun to raise my daughter in the neighborhood I grew up in. I love to read. I love to write. I love live music. I love art. I love movies. I have been a waitress, a bartender, a teacher, a decorative and scenic painter, a graphic designer, a real estate agent, a traffic and weather reporter, a DJ for an Americana music station and I was most lucky to find myself on the security team for the best nightclub on the planet. I wish I had more time for yoga classes and gardening. I love to cook a big, fresh feast. How exciting for you to be planning your next adventure here in Washington DC. It's going to be great. Happy trails!
