We had a really good experience at Madagali Inn, I'm glad we chose it. First of all, the Island, Guraidhoo, is a really nice little neighborhood place with a population of about 2,000 people, pretty much all local maldivians. It was nice to get to experience the local culture a bit, instead of seeing only the inside of a resort. Second of all, the inn is very nice - quite simple and exactly what we were hoping for. We had good air conditioning, semi-reliable internet, a sizeable room-safe, and free access to snorkels, masks and fins. Our host, named Ibu, was very hospitable, he took care of whatever we needed, and he took us on some fantastic day trip excursions, including snorkelling, fishing, spending time on an uninhabited island, seeing dolphins, sea turtles, etc. We had an awesome time with Ibu and he made sure we were enjoying ourselves in all our activities. The guy that cooked our meals, named Melan, did a great job and made us tons of tasty local-style dishes (and was generous with the spice!). I would definitely suggest that anyone travelling on a budget should stay at Madagali and do as many of the day trip excursions as possible. We ended up having an amazing trip on a really tight budget, and we did pretty much all the fun ocean stuff for a tiny fraction of the cost of a fancy resort trip.
