This authentic 19th century, red-tile-roof'ed stone Provençal mas is located in the middle of vineyards a half-an-hour's drive from Avignon. It has been completely and tastefully renovated and it now combines the best of gracious Provençal living with contemporary comfort.
Les Seyrels boasts a glorious garden with an outside table under a shady maple tree seating 8 for al fresco dining, a stone dipping pool, a fruit orchard, an olive grove, a petanque court for playing boules, a ping pong table, 5 bicycles of various sizes, and a particularly lovely, extra-large swimming pool surrounded by olive and cypress trees and vineyards. With its verdigris-shuttered windows, terra-cotta-tiled floors, beamed ceilings and spacious living room featuring a large stone fireplace, this is Provençal living at its best. The farmhouse sleeps four in the main house in two upstairs bedrooms, both with beamed, cathedral ceilings (equipped with ceiling fans). Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom -- one equipped with a spacious shower stall and the other with a quaint, claw-foot bathtub. An attached, but independent, guest house next to the kitchen and another guest bedroom next door also have beamed cathedral ceilings equipped with ceiling fans and both sleep two in wrought-iron, queen-size beds. Each has an ensuite travertine-marble bathroom with spacious stainless steel-and-glass showers.
Les Seyrels is located equidistant from the charming Provençal town of Beaumes-de-Venise and the equally quaint town of Sarrians. Both towns host weekly outdoor vegetable and fruit markets, have supermarkets, bakeries and newsagents and can be reached either by a 5-minute car trip or by a 15-min. bicycle ride (the farmhouse also offers the use of 5 bicycles of various sizes). Just ten minutes away by car is the bustling market town of Carpentras and twenty minutes away is the antiques center of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. The Dentelles mountains and the celebrated Mt. Ventoux, both minutes' drive away, offer exhilarating hiking and biking on pathways lined with thyme and rosemary. Situated in the heart of the Côte du Rhône region, this Mas is a delight for wine enthusiasts, too (Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras... all at short driving distance).

Charla Carter, the owner, is available by telephone at any time to answer any questions but the house manager, Jean-Philippe Paumard who lives a 20-minute drive away in Orange is there to greet renters and do any trouble-shooting if necessary.
This is a family home and as such, is lovingly and comfortably furnished. We hope that renters will treat it as if it were theirs.
I am a California-born fashion editor and journalist who has been living and working in Paris since the early '80s. I love travel, good food and exotic experiences -- luckily my work provides many of these things but I look to my house in Provence for an opportunity to relax and disconnect in a gorgeous setting.
